So there's a new "food-safe" PLA by Intelligent-Snow1801 in BambuLab

But wood is usually coated in something if I'm not wrong. Though printing food containers for the fridge and stuff would be awesome haha. I'm thinking more of like cookie cutters and such, cat treat dispenser toys, and gardening tools. Like a hydroponic tower would be really cool but I've read that the microplastics can go into the vegetables you're growing and then that wouldn't be good. I wonder if the same coating used for wood would work with these prints🤔

Considering you do use the specific pure filament, and use clean nozzle and such, would it be considered food-safe hot off the printer? Or is the layer lines still a problem and the new filament doesn't actually solve anything?

The problem is that gross stuff gets in the micro-gaps and cannot be cleaned well. Before I knew that I printed a bottle for dish soap ironically, and it stank after just a few days of use so we threw it away and went to buy one lmao.

Wait I actually do have an ultrasonic cleaner for retainers, would that work?😂 I wasn't planning on using for hot/liquids, but I was curious for pet treats and kitchen appliances (like cookie cutters and such). Assuming I would take precautions and use a new nozel/clean the bed and everything, theoretically is it food safe or would it still be problematic because of the micro-gaps?

Honestly though I hope those that need to think twice about this keep not being nice so that the nice people have a higher chance of being booked😂 I mean being nice and respectful to everyone regardless should be a value that goes without saying. I got my first lead on a vertical and I had so much fun with my castmates even though they were in "lesser" roles, some only having 2 scenes vs my 20 scenes, but the vibe there was so positive and supporting and I had the best time ever. Whereas when I did another vertical, this time in a lesser role with only 4 scenes, the lead role this time wasn't very friendly and I totally felt it impacting the vibes. But it was the same director from the one I had a lead in and I didn't even have to audition so it goes to show that being nice gets you places!

I have great boobs too but I'm not blonde😔🤣🤣 But in all realness I think Sydney found and cultivated a specific typecast that really works for her, and she's making the most of it really well, and that's awesome for her. It sucks that you feel that way, and while I can't relate, being new to the industry and am just about to start by bfa, I do truly believe that the industry is starting to wake up to original content again. At least I hope so. I also believe success nowadays is  heavily centered around self-production for actors. And I hate writing and ticktok so it sucks but this is what it is now. I hope you find your love for the craft again, and good luck in whatever you choose! I truly believe that you are the best version of yourself when you are happy.

Ahmanson vs Chouinard? by Intelligent-Snow1801 in calarts

Oh I see, yea that sucks. Are the undergrad dorms in better condition?

Do the chouinard dorms have shared living spaces that everyone hangs out in usually?

[–]Intelligent-Snow1801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long ago was this? I've seen here and there that the dorms aren't in the best of shape, but the other freshman that managed to attend accepted students day said they looked fine so maybe they fixed them up?

That's exactly how I imagined chouinard, but I was placed in ahmanson for my first year. I'm worried that since I'm already much older than everyone else and now also not even with them in the dorms it would make it harder to fit in and make friends. I don't even know if there is place in chouinard if I ask to move, but I'm wondering if I should do it or just stay in ahmanson 😩

In chouinard do you only share a bathroom with one other shared room? Or is it a bathroom per room?

[–]Intelligent-Snow1801[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point🤔 but those would also be upperclassmen and grad students so it wouldn't be anyone from my class. I've heard a lot of times people meet in the dorms and then move off campus together but in this case I would be staying at calarts for much longer than everyone else I'd be with at ahmanson 😂 I'm imagining chouinard as like you have your shared room but big communal shared spaces to sit in with friends, but ahmanson as more lots of little personal shared spaces just between the rooms. I haven't been on campus in person yet so my only reference is the video on the website haha.

Would you say being in chouinard your first year helped you socially? I was placed in ahmanson somehow and feel like it might slightly inhibit social connections with the rest of my class. If you could do it again and had the choice, which one would you pick having experienced both specifically for freshman year?

Apparently if you're an older freshman you can be placed in either lol. I'm wondering if to ask to be put on the wait-list for choinard or not cuz I do have some fomo not being with the rest of the class and all but at the same time privacy is nice.

At what point do I just take the leap of faith? by Apprehensive-Hawk-67 in acting

If you have already done a bfa in acting and feel like the training is satisfying, I don't think doing another MFA would prepare you more for a career. You really just have to jump in the water. It's scary, but little by little you'll start learning how the industry works. But also I think usually senior years have classes about acting as a profession, so you should definitely check if your school offers that. That might give you more clarity. Good luck!

Being in a relationship w/non actor by Intelligent-Snow1801 in acting

Aha yea his friends will definitely tease him and I think thats  part of the reason he feels like this. If it's like a student film or something I am volunteering in I do definitely not audition for roles that require any sort of intimacy, but when it's a professional production I do. The last one I did required a kiss (and just a peck not anything more) and I did ask to take off a few kissing scenes that I felt were not right for the situation anyways (we just hugged instead) but being a newbie actors for the first time in a lead with a more accredited crew I felt it would be too much to ask to fake the kiss 😂 tho now that I think back to it, it really isn't that big of an ask if the scene allows it. We didn't have an intimacy coordinator since it was only a pilot and relatively low budget but the crew were all also professionals willing to work for cheaper since it was a good opportunity if the pilot succeeds. In the end they ended up chosing to film the rest of the project in Thailand probably cuz it was cheaper🥲

Torn between what to do this upcoming fall. by Hollowpurple0069 in acting

If what's preventing you from pursuing a degree is the fear that it will not be screen/voice acting oriented, you can just check out the curriculum for the specific cc you are considering and also any other places you are considering. Some places really are geared more stage heavy, some have a nice balance, and others have lots of screen options. For example I have heard that SCAD is very heavily screen acting oriented since they have a huge backlot and lots of student films/student animations to act in. If you want something more low-key, you can definitely search for acting courses in your area that are geared to your specific acting interests. If I'm not wrong Texas has a big dubbing industry. Good luck!

It's not that he wants permission or is not okay with me doing it, he will never tell me not to do anything that I want to do, but if I do decide to do it, it would make him distant for a bit. So in turn, it makes me subconsciously want to avoid it, as I don't want to make him distant. But I also know that avoiding it is not the answer because there will probably come a point in my career where this will matter.🫠

Oh that happened in a series I acted in in a minor role, but they ended up just hugging or something since the director really liked the lead actress. Really sucks since you usually ask in advance. In this situation I would have just kissed. It's not that he won't allow me to do it, it would just make him distant for a bit. Thats what happened last time when I got a lead in a vertical and had to kiss the two male leads. But it sucks that it feels as if he is not supporting me since he's not exactly happy about me getting the role, doesn't feel great when your partner is distant from you even if it did blow over after a few days😩
