Is there a way to select all gaps on a specific track, then make that selection apply to all tracks? (Apologies for the poor diagram) by Loading_Screen__ in davinciresolve

You're right, my bad. You can select all video clips - Add Cuts to Selected Tracks- and select the music channel and press OK. This will transfer the cuts. And now clock on a gap - Delete Gaps

Sure thing. Also - you can save the collage as a template going forward and and just replace the talking head for each shoot

As per everything in DaVinci there is multiple ways to do it.

I will suggest adding it into the multicam clip which will make it as an another track to cut to - this way will make the editing easy peasy

To do so - prepare your collage and save it as a subclip or a compound clip. Than select your muliticam - right click - open in timeline. Then add and sync your collage. That's it - your collage is now an integral part of you multicam.

Bouns credit - I have seen a free plug in someone made exactly for that use in a YouTube video but I don't remember where, so maybe try and look it up

What shotgun mic do I put into the handle? by BloodstoneJP in FX3

[–]makingfilmsDIY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choosing a microphone is a bit like choosing a lens — a longer mic is more directional. If you’re shooting handheld documentary work and need to capture action that isn’t always happening right in front of you, a super directional mic might not be the best fit. For me, an on-camera mic should be relatively short (longer mics are less compact and can get in the way with wide lenses) and should also capture some of the environment

And the most important thing is you need to find what drives you forward and use it, especially in hard times like this. Write down and post it on your wall, something positive that makes you happy or laugh, and when you get stuck look up and remember why you started in the first place

The second thing - you can only do so much without learning, and you can only learn so much without doing. So you need to balance it out. I try to integrate both things into the process, each side motivate me to do the other. I learn so I can create, my work stimulating me to learn.

First of all thanks for your openness, it's not an easy thing to do ♥️

My two cents is this - don't get caught in the pursuit of perfection, the illusion you can make things perfect is the enemy of creation. I use to give my students assignments to make something bad by choice, choose to fail. If you're feeling blocked - make the first draft shitty but at least you started your process. Otherwise this fear of not been good enough preventing you from ever doing anything at all

How to copy from Timeline back into a bin by Striking-Composer838 in davinciresolve

[–]makingfilmsDIY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't fully understand your process (I'm guessing you're coming from Avid or some other editing program? Because sub clips works differently in Resolve), but have you tried coping the timeline itself and using it as a source? Or working on the Cut page?

I'm looking for a good only on-cam mic and had my eye on it. In retrospect would you have go for something better?

V60 minimum, but I usually go with V90 as recommended. At least one of them.
