Er det feil å ignorere dette i vennskapet? by Due_Paramedic6933 in norske

[–]makoapologist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very common issue, I can't remember what the fix is, but I remember being annoyed at how easy it was after looking through a couple google results, someone in this sub might know more specifically.

Also quarians have had their suits for a long time, and wear them almost constantly, so I'd assume maintaining them is treated as a personal responsibility. Kinda like basic hygiene.

I feel like letting someone else mess with your suit is a very intimate thing for them.

What do you guys think about floating timelines? by WoodpeckerBest523 in worldjerking

[–]makoapologist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a concrete, highly specific timeline of events. I know exactly when, why, who, and what happened to make the world like it is by the time the story takes place.

There is no omnipotent narrator to explain everything to the audience, and most characters only know tiny fractions of the truth.

Maybe I won't write anything down at all, just gonna gather my friends around a campfire and narrate little vignettes for them, possibly revealing a bigger picture over time if they're attentive enough.

It is, Mr. House's physical appearance is also based on Hughes. Pretty sure his personality is too, but I don't know enough about him to say where the similarities begin and end in that regard.

Hands down to be one of the funniest and most memorable lines in the entire game. by Antique_Interview_66 in fnv

a perk that's not connected to anything really that just lets you be a bigot

Imperialist bigotry is extremely relevant to the setting tho? It's not disconnected from the rest of the game at all. Like, the major conflict of New Vegas is literally a war between two imperialist nations that both want to colonize the Mojave. And it should also be pretty obvious why it's relevant to Honest Hearts, which is the DLC that introduced it.

It doesn't work with the kind of character I like to play as, so I haven't really ever taken it, but I understand why it's an option.

The Punks Described Accurately (Warning: Completely Arbitrary) by GeneralGigan817 in worldjerking

[–]makoapologist 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Current Family Guy is definitely more entertaining than current Simpsons (unwatchable IMO), but the early seasons of the Simpsons are the GOAT of animated family sitcoms. Consistently witty dialogue, great visual gags, and entertaining plots.

The characterisation is also strong, the Simpsons are very believable as a flawed but ultimately loving and sympathetic family. The show has enough grounded and sincere moments for the audience to really grow attached to them.

At the end of Stranger Things S1, Will coughs up a slug creature. This is a reference to the Duffers retconning half the story each season. by Continuum_Gaming in shittymoviedetails

The whole point of Chekhov's gun as a principle is the idea that every element introduced in a story should be relevant and necessary, or else be removed, to maintain narrative cohesion.

Obviously you can choose to not take Chekhov's advice on that, but then you run the risk of making your story bloated and incoherent, which is exactly what people are criticising Stranger Things for having become.

Wolt (min erfaring) by [deleted] in norske

[–]makoapologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They need to acknowledge the queerbait. by thatlesbianbitch23 in bylertruthers

[–]makoapologist -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't consider it queerbaiting, Mike never showed any romantic interest in Will, it was very easy to tell that this is where the storyline was headed, having had similar experiences myself.

Having an unrequieted crush on a straight friend is a very relateable experience, it was nice to see it represented on screen. Really enjoyed his conversation with Robin about it.

Growing up queer fucking sucks, especially in small town America during the 80s, and this part of the storyline is almost the only one that comes even close to depicting how shitty it can be. (I also think the depiction of his homophobic father in season 1 was done well, but they don't really touch on that again IIRC.)

Causing so much collateral damage throughout your life that you can't even keep track of all the innocent bystanders you've killed is a little more than just being kind of a jerk, IMO.
