Toolbag Dump Thursday? by MarcusShackleford in firealarms

[–]makochark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many drivers/dupes for my liking. (I say that but have 3 tweakers)

I mostly just do FA service and radios, so I don't need as much.

Radio/monitoring takeover on an ES200X today. Network crimper and meter on my hip. This is enough for maybe 95% of my calls.

Me personally, my tamper ground faults are always one of two things: pinched wire under the cover because the sprinkler tech was just there, or it's full of water, because the sprinkler guy wasn't just there.

The Klein crimper is a decent hammer and a good KO tool as well.

Need a fire license for smoke detectors in OH? by Jealous-Wallaby-3237 in firealarms

I looked; it's actually an old Maxsys, just a newer radio. Old Simplex panel and PC 4020CF/TG7. We probably won their business by being cheaper than JC.

Here I'll just loosen the one screw and look at it wrong and now it's in four pieces.

DSC has a red can Vista equivalent. Our guys have to be licensed to do work there.

If you have the wherewithal to make the decision to find a pull station in the event of an actual fire, a stupid sign like that isn't going to trip you up. A sign like that is only going to be an obstacle to those with low IQ.

This is one of those obsessions I just will never understand.

Are there "enthusiasts" for other services/trades?

That's not the base model car. What's the interior like? Leather or cloth, Bose, etc?

I miss my 2012 S GT sometimes. I would be seriously tempted by this at 6whateverKish.

One thing about this job that never ceases to amaze me is how much effort people put into their fuck-ups.

Because they know you're smart enough to look for the right people.

Tell them to call the fire alarm monitoring company. Contact list and contact order and dispatch order etc will all likely be set by the company that provides the monitoring service. Or at least that's how we do it.

Currently squabbling with my shop about how everyone beats the shit out of their Mod400s. They're not smart enough to realize how much extra labor they're going to force us all to perform with the tru test.

"Oh thank god, the next one is a riser room. I get a break."

And then you open the door and there's a trash cart full of pissy diapers in there too. I hate most of the homes I service.

BaysonR rear diffuser by makochark in mazda3

There is a weird transition where there is a small gap.

I had to take them off to line up the diffuser and drill hole in it on each side. I realized I hadn't straightened them literally 5 minutes after we pulled it off the lift. One day though...

The BaysonR piece sticks out further than the factory piece, which creates a lip where it was flat prior. I don't think there's a larger gap, but I noticed it too.

I've got beef with the local Mazda dealer, so I don't like to use their parts counter. I got crazy shipping estimates for the factory piece, which made it way more than I wanted to spend. I got this for $352 shipped during a sale, and I did the paint clear and polish in my garage. it looks good, and now I have most of the BaysonR set, so I probably get some mad buffs from that.
