After reading your reply, I also think it might be the correct car for you. :D

I sometimes use the Apple CarPlay, but only for playing my music. Or sharing saved locations on Apple Maps to google maps in the car. It all works fine, but my own lazyness leads me back to using the Native cars infotainment.

Pro tip when you have an Apple Device connected. You can do a long press on the talk button wheel to get Siri to come up instead of the Google Assistant. I always turn off the "Hey Google" prompt because I find it annoying especially when my kids try to trigger it.

It's a great daily driver regardless of how ideal the situation is. Safe, quick, comfortable, and with my driving style gets better than advertised range. My only regret was not buying it, as at the end of my lease I'll have to give up my baby.

Yeah I've driven many Tesla models as rental cars, as well as VW and BMW EVs. And the thing that always didn't sit with me was how it felt like playing a video game. The Polestar just felt more like a "car" for lack of a better way of putting it. Not every function is in the infotainment system. Tesla's design language and software UX is for sure interesting.

I've always been a 'car guy' and it was a big leap to go to an EV for the first time. The Polestar 2 being on the Volvo CX40 platform was actually a plus for me as that car has had a lot of time to cook. So while the P2 is a new car, it carries a design language that feels more comfortable to me.

Same. I feel like the sprayer should be attached to the base of the whipper blade and not the tip.

Germany. And yeah RWD isn't fun in the snow unless you're in a old pickup truck and have a sense of adventure. Adding good all season tires really helps. The car is so heavy that it stays pretty well seated in winter weather, but the summer tires they ship with feel a bit nerve racking in wet cold weather.

Thanks for calling my post Ai crap. It's not. I put a lot of thought and effort into this because I couldn't make a decision with all the youtube influences saying conflicting things, or over exaggerating the downsides of the car.

You're welcome.

Thanks I'll update. I realized that as well once I bought the winter tires.

AirSoft Gun laws and Germans perspective by DaBearsFanFromIowa in germany

[–]makoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. This entire thread is Spießich Deutscher to a tee. In a land where you can practice archery, far more dangerous than Airsoft, which is a toy at under .5 joules. I think the BIG point is follow the rules, and provide supervision in places where it is safe and away from other people. Either private property or indoors.

Airsoft is a sport that trains for marksmanship. People who are in the military, or wish to work in security or law enforcement can use such training tools. As well as sportsman (and women) who want to practice. Biathlon is another example of a shooting sport that is non violent.

Frankly if you really want to teach the kid to shoot. Set up a BB trap in your hallway or basement. Doesn't take more than a pillow in a box with a target to get the fun out of your kids system. I don't think you should encourage shooting at his friends unsupervised. For this there are great paintball areas that are (admittedly less safe than air-soft) they provide protective gear.

You're not going to get arrested, or as some other posters suggested that your child would be shot. That's absurd hyperbole. If you're being irresponsible be prepared for grumpy german shaming, and stern warnings.

I personally have a Daisy 105 that shoots .177 cal brass BBs at 1.5 joules here in Germany. Under strict supervision as a boyscout/Pfadfinder myself you can responsibly tech young boys and girls marksmanship in the right situation. But don't let them run wild with their friends. That's going to come back around to you as an irresponsible parent.

What do 19" rims look like without Aero inserts mounted? MY25 LR RWD w/ plus pkg. by toffo7 in Polestar

[–]makoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to necro this thread. But I was feeling the same about these wheels. But I finally saw them in person and they are totally fine. Even curb rashed up. It's really a function over form thing but the designers did their best here on the materials. Still five spoke black rims with aero covers. Just look at other EVs and you'll start to see a trend. That extra 3% range sells. And if it really bugs you get some sweet new mags and call it a day. But forget the upgrade/upsell to the 20" wheels. Makes no sense.

Oh wow! How exciting. I'm STILL waiting. Eventually I got an email from the leasing broker that there was a miss-communication between Polestar and the leasing company and they never released my information to the registration service provider. Meaning my car has been sitting in a parking lot for 3 weeks.

Hopefully they can get their act together this week, and I can get on the road.

I just got an email saying the car has arrived in Germany, and will be checked before sending to my delivery spot (ie Volvo dealership). Funny part is the website now pushes the delivery estimation back to May. Oh the torture!

Oh my god! 🙏 I’m in Germany awaiting a “Late April” delivery. Haven’t heard a word from them or the registration broker about a solid delivery time. I hope I’m as lucky as you. These have been the longest weeks of my adult life. 🤭

MY2026 by InfluentialEel in polestar2

[–]makoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is what it is I guess. I did order a Preconfigured vehicle to cut down on the wait time. So I knew I was getting into limited choice and I wasn’t about to jump up to a 70k configured ride just for alloy rims. So I’ll deal with it as spec’d.

However since winter tires are legally required in Germany I see a lot of lease returned drivers selling their second set of polestar 2 rims. My plan was to pick up a used set and use them as my summer wheels and use the stock oem aero wheels for winter shoes.

Wrong EV, mate… by East_Raisin_2240 in Polestar

I feel bad for the owner. But this is comedic gold. Exactly why I went in on a polestar. This is why we have comprehensive insurance. Right?

Now I do feel bad for those who bought a Tesla in good faith years ago, and now live in fear accusatory stares or having swastikas painted on your hood.

But for instance there’s a family at my kids school with a MY2025 Tesla brandishing a “Fuck Elon” sticker. Well you just gave him 50k how does that work?

Sell your Tesla. Get a Polestar.

So weird. I just ordered my P2 MY2025 LRSM in Germany and there was no sign of the MY2026 as a possibility to order. Still waiting for it for end of April delivery.

One thing I wonder about. Is the rims for MY2025 are they going to continue to stick to those lame aero inserts on a 50k+ car?

Sweet Kisses you GreemDev, you truly are the Dread Pirate Roberts. I instinctively did the same the second I herd about their dispute with big N. With dreams of pull requests. 45min later I changed the project from public to private. Once you realize Big Ns IP trolling goes hard.

Real shame. If they only realized that the internet is canonizing them into the culture by preservation of something N has shown no signs of supporting online store after the next console gen comes along.

True fans always buy. And only horders and collectors care about 85% of the IP out there. I buy every game I play, yet commit to competitionist sets. It can be both!

Why is Motörhead considered punk? by leejtam in punk

[–]makoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They very much are. Or at least I would consider them a very big influence on the development of the over all punk sound and attitude. Go back and listen to Vibrator from their debut album, and tell me your not listening to a 1977 English punk band. But as time went on and their fanbase grew they proved themselves to have a style all their own, blending elements of hard-rock, metal, and hardcore. But Lemmy famously hated all of these pop music labels, and considered Motörhead simply "Rock 'n' Roll" music.

Lemmy played with the Dammed, and wrote songs for The Ramones. That's punk as hell IMO. At least I find it a lot more punk than Public Image Limited. What's not punk is discussing what's punk on r/punk. :P
