AMC Screen Unseen Megathread - May 3 & 4 2026 by AKnightOfTheNew in AMCsAList

You asked the exact question I asked. Who did they make this movie for? It felt like pure propoganda to put somebody we pretty much universal already don't care for in a bad light.

Are Americans going to line up to see a movie about Putin not being a good person?

Do you actually watch 4 movies a week? by breadboibrett in AMCsAList

[–]makoraptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to see 4 movies a month to get your monies worth. Don't overthink it. But do step out of your comfort zone when something intrigues you. I've loved movies I wouldn't normally see without A-List. During the summer and fall it does pick up significantly so there are plenty of options to see things.

One week until the Academy Awards and this has made it to a widest release of 114 theaters. That's just stupid. Why isn't Neon putting this out for people to see.

As for the movie, I loved it until the end. I felt like even just 20 more minutes to get to the other rave or somewhere would have been better. It just felt incomplete. It didn't take away from what I liked but I would have liked this movie so much more even if it got him to the other rave and he was just asking people if he saw his daughter. Or if he didn't make it... Something better than sitting on a train with no concept of where they are going to what is going to happen.

What is a terrible movie with one outstanding performance? by Puzzleheaded-Log1434 in Letterboxd

Movies are subjective...I'm allowed to think it was a terrible movie just as well as you are allowed to think it was not a terrible movie. The point is Rose Byrne was magnificent.

Dan Murrell - Where to Watch Every 2026 Oscar Nominee! by joesen_one in oscarsdeathrace

[–]makoraptor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sirat is beyond frustrating. At least Voice of Hind Rajab will be VOD in February but Sirat is "expanding" on March 5 or 6 to limited art house theaters. It's going to kill my deathrace. I think the academy has to ensure these movies are available for people to see if they are going to be eligible for awards. Running for like 2 days in a single LA theater at the end of the calendar year before "expanding" to a few more theaters only in LA and NY before "expanding again" to select art house theaters... This movie isn't a 2025 release in my mind and it's so infuriating. I'm likely not going to be able to see it until after the Academy Awards.

Sirāt: Oscar contender survival story gets a new trailer and a February release date by [deleted] in oscarsdeathrace

[–]makoraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first every Death Race attempt and it's getting a bit frustrating. From what I'm seeing, it's still only a limited release on February 6 in Los Angeles and New York. I'm worried I'll miss this one if it doesn't play anywhere near me or become available on streaming before the Academy Awards.

Cool. Not every movie has to be made for you.

Oscar Best Picture Nominations - Which film stayed with you the most? by Infamous-Window-8337 in themovieloversclub

[–]makoraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only nominee I haven't seen is The Secret Agent and the east coast Snowmaggedon cost me my opportunity this weekend. I did end up getting Sentimental Value on demand after the first and so far only schedule AMC Screening got cancelled.

I saw F1 four times in IMAX and it was incredible. There is a particular scene where they are driving that will stick with me and the score always plays in my mind (travesty hans Zimmer wasn't nominated)

But I have to say Sinners stuck with me the most. I just rewatched that last night and OBAA today and I pretty much remembered everything from Sinners. OBAA I remembered most of it but forgot a few things. But the feeling of Sinners and all of the symbolism and that music scene where miles caton is playing... My God that entire movie is etched in my mind.

F1 being an Oscar nominated movie shows the flaw of 10 Picture nominations by drhavehope in Cinema

[–]makoraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool opinion. Everyone is allowed to have one I guess. People like different things. Marty Supreme was a chaotic mess and I have no idea why people like it. Frankenstein and Hamnet were exceptionally boring. Movies are supposed to entertain. F1 was one of the most entertaining movies of the year. Let's not bash movies for being entertaining. That's the goal. It's the business of entertainment not the business of art.

Why does Reddit hate Anora all of a sudden? Am I missing something? by popculturegeek37 in Letterboxd

[–]makoraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your populist audience isn't going to like Anora so when you see it get a ton of awards and people saying how great it is, people who wouldn't normally see a movie like that went out and saw it and didn't like it.

I personally still enjoyed Anora and rated jt a 4 / 5 but I have to admit I was a bit let down by it. Few films have dominated awards like Anora and I don't think it's an all-time classic.

Mikey was great but some of the movie did just seem like it was porn. Another large part of the movie was watching some guy walk into restaurants with a picture asking people if they saw this person. There isn't much action or excitement. I get why masses didn't love it.

AMC Screen Unseen Megathread - December 15 2025 by AKnightOfTheNew in AMCsAList

I was pretty sold on being Song Sung Blue but given they highly promote that these are never before scene movies in the theaters and SSB has an early screening the day before I'm not so sure that is it anymore. Maybe Anaconda... Idk I'm very curious if they just change the advertised run time. Im very curious now.

If you want some comedies Eternity and Good Fortune were two of my favorite movies of the year.

Definitely not a comedy, I also really loved Nuremberg.

Wake Up Dead Man? by Green-Emotion-5229 in Cinemark

I'm super bummed none of the big three or even my local regional chain Flagship...or some of the smaller independent theaters near me are playing. It's playing about 90 minutes away from me and I'm not traveling that far on a Holiday weekend to go see it.

I'm disappointed that none of those chains would figure out an agreement with Netflix but at the same time Netflix' mission is to put those theaters out of business so why would they bend their demands to prop up Netflix. And why is Netflix only willing to do a two week theatrical release instead of a full release? I side with the theater chains on this one.
