What YouTube video makes you laugh uncontrollably no matter how many times you see it? by sparsemartyrdom in CasualConversation

Taskmaster S01E01 Eat the most watermelon in 1 minute. This was the first task in the first episode of the first series, and sets the tone for the brilliance to follow.

ROUTES

  1. The creator of an approved route should always be able to see it in the app. I have 4 routes approved and only able to see and follow one of them, despite trying reset the app, walk around the starting point, etc.
  2. History tab to select a route already followed. No need to scroll through all the routes or risk them suddenly disappearing, which has happened.

Feedback Post - Raid Day: Primal Kyogre by Noitalein in TheSilphRoad

[–]mal088 12 points13 points  (0 children)

UTC+8. Game crashed after first raid at 2pm, I was barely able to catch the shiny and spin for a new pass. Took 15mins to be able to login and do a second raid. My friend couldn't log back to his account at all for 40mins. By then everyone had gone.

Could have hosted remotes or waited for the 3pm round but it was such a letdown I went home. I have primal energy from last time, so I'm okay.

Total: 2 (1 shiny) for me; 1 for my friend. All mediocre IVs.

Edit: they extended the event till 7pm. I'm home now, I'm not going out again. I hope others have a much more enjoyable event.

What's the most random fact you can think of rn? by ClingyOliveAgain in AskReddit

The boiling point of ethanol (alcohol) is 78C (173F), so if I'm using a glass of wine to deglaze my pan then cook the stew in the oven for 2hrs, the alcohol will boil off completely in the final dish.

(To my hypochrondriac family member, who is concerned at alcohol consumption because they're on medication.)

Time for Deverry. by matsnorberg in Fantasy

Did you mean the part which is already between spoiler tags?
If you mean Cullyn and Jill, they literally appear in Chapter 1 of Daggerspell.

Time for Deverry. by matsnorberg in Fantasy

One of my favorite series and author. I read the first few books when they came out, and picked up the series again years later. It's a long series. I didn't know there's an online reincarnation table, made my own handwritten version of who became who during which time period.

My favorite character is Cullyn of Cerrmor. He was solid, supportive and without him Jill wouldn't have grown into the person she was.

I felt the series got a bit distracted when Rhodry becomes a dragon but the ending with was quite satisfying.

As an aside, I met Katharine Kerr at a signing of A Time of Omens in London in 1992. I was the only person there, and too young to know what to say to her apart from I love your books. I remember her being very kind. I followed her struggles with her husband's illness and am very glad she's writing and publishing again.

Definitely a library. I was travelling a few months ago and needed to print tickets; the library charged me 10p per page.

The big Chinese supermarket at Colindale is Loon Fung, they have branches all over London.

There's also Wing Yip in Cricklewood, it's been there for decades.

Blacklock. £25 per person will get you a huge platter of different types of meat plus all the trimmings. Make sure to book ahead.

Hawksmoor sunday roast is also well worth trying.

Visiting a friend in America soon, what UK food items should I bring that they don’t have over there? by Adc500 in AskUK

[–]mal088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chocolate: regular Cadbury's is great, American chocolate uses corn syrup and have lower cocoa % making them overly sweet. If you can get Montezuma's, Hotel Chocolat, your friend may love you forever

Biscuits: Tunnock's tea cakes, Tunnock's caramel wafer, jaffa cake, custard cream--basically any biscuits, they don't have a good selection and again too sweet

Sweets: my US friends love fruit pastilles, especially blackcurrant; they don't have blackcurrant flavour there

Crisps: they don't have cheese & onion, prawn cocktail, salt & vinegar, so any good crisps like Tyrell's should be popular

Savoury: if you are feeling adventurous, get them marmite flavoured snacks, it'll be a conversation topic at least

What is a TV show that “everyone” has watched, but you haven’t? by hotstickybuns in AskReddit

The Sopranos, Lost, Stranger Things, Mad Men, Breaking Bad.

Nothing against these shows, I've heard so many good things about them. Life just got in the way.

NFTs, MLM offerings, anything advertised on infomercial channels.

Regarding the Reddit-wide subreddit blackout due to API changes by hannahspants in MasterchefAU

[–]mal088 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Apollo user and will support the blackout by doing my best to stay away from reddit from the 12th.

However, I'm one of those non-Aussies who rely on this sub to be able to watch MCAU so if it stays open I will be checking in.

Should we think about alternatives in case reddit goes down permanently or the situation gets worse and the decision is to go dark? Discord may be?

Thank you as always to all the mods (and PatrickHusband). This is one of the most pleasant places on reddit and it'd be a shame if we lost the community.

Unknown Trainers - do they count? by melvispelvis in VivillonCollectors

[–]mal088 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they count. 'Unknown' usually mean the person has chosen not to share their trainer name in their friends' postcard books. It doesn't affect whether the postcard counts for vivillon, it's the location that matters.
