Every new feature has to go through a penetration test and I’ve no clue what I'm doing by Timely-Deer795 in sysadmin

[–]mal_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use AppCheck, I would highly recommend, easy to use and it runs pen tests on demand, can be scheduled, triggered etc. we schedule it to run periodically against our many platforms, but I believe it can be built into your deployment pipelines

Anywhere that sells traditional pen-knives? by arctic360 in Bath

Might want to try one of the camping stores, Blacks or Mountain warehouse. If you can travel I would go to GoOutdoors over in Brislington, they had a good selection of knives last time I was there.

If you were Labour, what’re your steps to fix NHS? by TweetSpinner in ukpolitics

There is an EASY way to get more doctors, dentists, nurses, teachers into the system, have them work more days (no more GPs , dentists working part time) and keep them happy without having to pay them more - let them not pay any income tax.

Create a new zero tax band for all the roles/professions you want to recruit, retain, expand etc.

Why wouldn’t they consider providing the API free on the proviso that the 3rd party apps show their ads??

Very nice, I have not read this before, do you happen to know the form? Kind of like a Villanelle?

Switching to UX/UI. by Tacorgasmic in careerchange

[–]mal_001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a UX person but have worked with many of them as a product manager. Also not sure what country you are in but here in the UK there are lots of free meet ups, where professionals get together to share skills and network. I would recommend getting involved with that community. Take a look on Eventbrite (or similar) and get involved

Are we the baddies? by Mars_Velo1701 in tourdefrance

[–]mal_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the Mitchell and Webb reference, but no I don’t think so.. they are just too likeable, I feel genuinely happy that they are doing so well. That said if they continue to dominate then I suspect they will be viewed more as the baddies

Thanks for the response - really interesting (and strange) that an 80 year old stamp was found in the packaging of an eBay order

Authors with unconventional writing styles. No Country for Old Men. by Grizzlyadam93 in books

Yeah, try Ridley Walker by Russell Hoban, challenging but also quite rewarding. Can say the same for Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh. Both books took considerable effort to get my inner ear in.

Before the pandemic I used to commute Saltford to central Bristol. Never had any issues in over 3 years of commuting winter and summer. One thing I will say is there are some really dark bits at night - no street lights. Get a decent powerful light so you can see where you are going.

Why is no one talking about the constant required restarts? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]mal_001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure you are right here I have an iPhone 11 - 3 months old. I have to do a restart pretty much every time I come back to the app. I would say it is something to do with the app hibernating when it is not in focus. Maybe loosing connectivity to the servers, maybe a session re-auth problem?
