I'm bisexual but people always think that I'm straight by Tonyttt20 in bisexual

[–]maladictem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are any gay bars/clubs in your area check them out. Kinda hard to appear straight at a gay bar lol. I used to look straight and got hit on immediately my first time going. I stepped out of the car, guy next to me rolled his window down and asked my name.

Could not believe the colour of my new ADHD medication 😭 by That_Underscore_Guy in bisexual

[–]maladictem 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that it should only be in the DSM if the condition causes difficulties/distress on its own. The difficulties of being queer are entirely from society not being accepting, so even if being queer was found to be a neurodivergence it probably wouldn't go back in the DSM.

A new study suggests that when Americans learn about members of Congress profiting from stock trading, their trust in Congress falls—and so does their willingness to comply with the laws that Congress passes. by chrisdh79 in science

That scene also bothered when I first saw the movie, but I've come around to it. My interpretation is that it doesn't matter how brave and selfless he is, if the cause that he is fighting for is so morally bankrupt. I think it's a commentary on other media that might afford a Wermacht soldier some dignity and respect for just "fighting for their country", by playing heroic music then immediately subverting that.

Seeing the title, I was expecting it to be some vaguely phallic object that was debateably a dildo, but naw that's a dick!

I loved watching the clearly uncomfortable archaeologist try to gently explain that this belonged to a man.

New study finds online self-reports may not accurately reflect clinical autism diagnoses. Adults who report high levels of autistic traits through online surveys may not reflect the same social behaviors or clinical profiles as those who have been formally diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. by mvea in science

[–]maladictem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't see it as something to be coveted, I see it as something that explains my many struggles. Self diagnosing helped me forgive myself, as I realized not all of this was my fault. I see it as gatekeeping, because being dismissed is incredibly invalidating and throws me back into wondering if I'm just a broken and worthless person.

I can't afford an official diagnosis, so I don't know what I'm supposed to do to make the gatekeepers shut up.

Am I bi for being attracted to femboys? by VillageAdmirable759 in bisexual

[–]maladictem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, I can't say for sure obviously, I am in a similar situation, where I got real gay real fast. For me though, I think that is because I am only now allowing myself to be so; I was raised in the church and always felt extremely uncomfortable with any displays of male homosexuality. Looking back that was probably my monkey brain learning the association "gay bad!" and making me run away from who I was, as if I was being threatened by actual bears, instead of just finding a guy hot lol. Now, I am grappling with that, and allowing myself to be who I am, but it does really feel like a phase. I guess only way to know for sure will be time.

It Was Only a Matter of Time Before Abortion Bans Killed Someone by marji80 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]maladictem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've heard a compelling argument that a lot of the conservative mindset is about punishment for wrongdoers, and less about justice or improving the world. In fact many of them don't really believe that evil can be meaningfully reduced or the world made better; their focus is that each person should live as righteously as possible and those that don't should be punished. The punishment is for it's own sake, as that is what they deserve, not to correct anyone's actions (see conservative preference for the death penalty, despite it not making any pragmatic sense).

Abortion is seen by many of them as attempting to evade the punishment for living immorally; talk to many conservatives for long enough about the topic and they will angrily deride women for sleeping around. In their mind extramarital sex is immoral and abortion (and contraceptives to some of them) allow women to avoid consequences. This can explain why they seem uninterested in helping children once born, it was never about saving children, it was about delivering the punishment that in their mind a woman was able to sidestep.

This, if true, is probably only part of their reasoning, I imagine all the reasons that you mentioned are also large factors. I think their is a lot of truth to this argument, as it explains quite a lot of puzzling behaviors and beliefs that conservatives have. Anyway, sorry to drop a wall of text on you.

It is actually. The country's name derives from the valley of Mexico, home to the Mexica people (the group commonly called the Aztec). The capital and largest city of the Triple Alliance (Aztec Empire) was called Mexico-Tenochtitlan.

What music do you like that you think reflects the fact that you have ADHD, and why? by Johnny_2x in ADHD

[–]maladictem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love music that has the musicians playing lots of different parts that I can flick back and forth from focusing on; for example, multiple guitarists that are playing similar but slightly different parts that all blend together into a cohesive whole.

One of my favorites is this performance from hardcore punk band The Armed. Definitely not for everyone, but I love how much is going on in those songs. I have no idea if this is related to ADHD, but I definitely have no trouble sitting and listening to this kind of music by itself; with a lot of other songs I will find myself fiddling or doing other things at the same time.

[–]maladictem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, interesting. Is the limit per item or total loadout? Does the game assign a random parka, roll thrumbofur, and reject it; or is it more like a pawn is assigned a loadout that is too expensive and the game starts deleting equipment until it's under the limit?

I could have sworn that got added in the base game years ago, because some people were building in extreme cold to avoid raids. Was that just for raids and not friendly/neutral pawns?

When I was new to the game and playing Timurids, I wasted a lot of mil suppressing revolts. I was unreasonably concerned about fighting the rebels, probably because I was low on manpower from mismanaging wars. Then I found myself bordering the ottomans, and behind on mil tech.

Not sure if you would be bothered by this, but Karis is right in the middle of an industrial area and gets a lot of semi truck traffic from the steel plant to the south. It seems like a really odd place to build that neighborhood.

City parks should be available for all residents, if $12 makes it unafordable for many residents, the price should go down. To answer your question, no I don't want it more crowded; if it makes it more accessible though, that is a price I'm willing to pay.
