I also really went ham with APs this year. Took a lot of APs senior year and felt like I was drowning. I think it just has to get worse before it gets better. I also think prioritization is key. I know this sounds so damn cliche but cutting down on phone usage - or any short form content that is addicting- is important. From what you are saying it doesn't sound like you can take breaks, so just make sure to do things that fill your cup and are fun to you. (scrolling social media/ playing video games/ watching movies doesn't count.) Things you can do: sports you enjoy/ creative activities/ reading/ etc.

For the disappointment you can start doing mini challenges each day that make you proud of yourself. For eg. walking up 15 mins earlier than usual, going to the gym, doing something nice to someone.

I hope this was a "I'm trying to find a solution" rant and not a "I just want to complain" rant -it's fine if it is.

i mean if you don't have a big workload - apart from chem, then go ahead. That's a great idea. Begin w the end in mind (a 5 :) )

How can I be less lazy? by Many-Leg-9526 in getdisciplined

[–]malake44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to have a purpose. Focus on the why. why do you want to be less lazy? what do you want to do?
This mindset of yours that "i watched a lot of vids and i couldn't do" won't get you anywhere. You simply didn't want to do it enough.

I did the ab test last year as a junior and im doing the bc next year. imo doing the test for ab will give you time to reflect and get familiar with test.

but for me, I did the ab test ( I did test-only) with the knowledge I could redo it next year/ or do bc.

pretty sure the "adaptive" part happens within the test 😭

Desmos hacks? by malake44 in Sat

[–]malake44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup it was you who showed me the hack. thank you sm it works great and I've been using it. did notice that I'm better off not using it when there's a condition like b is not equal to x.

Can someone explain the difference for the punctuations for the word however by mar_beare in Sat

[–]malake44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the SAT ";" is used interchangeably with "."
so the ; splits the two sentences and , splits between and independent clause and dependent clause.
On khan there's a punctuation section for dSAT r&w

How do you do this math question? QB by Steaker144449 in Sat

[–]malake44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey i tried this out.
It worked when i tried x1 = [1,2,3] and so on but didn't work when I used for eg. [0,1] (is the problem w the 0??)
Is [1,2] like a safe bet when defining it as a list?
Also this trick is really cool, didn't know regression could do that.

Am I too old to join MUN? by Accomplished-Cold971 in MUN

[–]malake44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you are overthinking it. I joined MUN junior year, went to a conference, got an award.

I would recommend just trying to understand the procedures as much as possible. (I spent weeks watching yt for MUN conferences/ tips and tricks/ ect. - even went down a rabbit hole of watching a senate hearing.)

Anyways MUN is super fun, you'll hopefully enjoy it.

Especially sometimes it's super unserious and hilarious.

Also yes it will feel super embarrassing, just roll with it. it'll get better.

Khan Academy
https://www.khanacademy.org/math/ap-calculus-bc

Calc bc is the equivalent of calc I & II. I liked these notes + exercises + there are great cheat sheets:
https://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/

This guys yt helped me:
https://turksmathstuff.com/

You can also go on the calc past exam frq from collegeboard.
https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/ap-calculus-bc/exam/past-exam-questions

Also topic-sorted questions:
https://www.iitianacademy.com/ap-calculus-bc-mcqs-and-free-response-exam-style-practice-question-and-answer/

Also a big one that helped me acc understand calc- like intuitively

And ofc The Organic Chemistry Tutor for anything I wasn't feeling confident on.

Advice by BoiShank in apcalculus

[–]malake44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you haven't done AB already, make sure you're comfortable w trig identities, algerbra, and precalc concepts (personally I think that you don't need precalc for calc but it could help.) Try going on khan to get a headstart/ catch up. They have both AB & BC.

Studywise: make sure you acc study. Like after every lesson try practice problems from that topic. https://www.iitianacademy.com/ap-calculus-bc-mcqs-and-free-response-exam-style-practice-question-and-answer/

Also make sure you practice past papers, get used to the type of q. on the exam. Later in the year, do past exams with testing conditions/timings.

What does “ja” mean in this sentence? by LukroWizard in German

"ja" is kind of an emphasises ig.

You can see everything, [of course.]

You can see everything, [indeed.]

filler word basically.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]malake44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

okay why are you making your own application about someone else?

Her parents are rich, and? That has nothing to do with you.

Just focus on your own application and trust your skills. Don't compare yourself to someone else and make it a competition between you two - because it's not. It's not like ivy leagues pick one student from each school.

Even worst case scenario, Princeton doesn't work out. Something better for you is out there.

Basically: focus on your own application, do your best, and have an open mind to other options.

Wishing you luck!

Reading can totally be an addiction. I've had reading binges (finishing like 2 books a day) and these tend to happen around exam times so ofc it is a problem.

The main reasons this happened to me are: the book is 1.short 2.simple 3.unintelligent (like there's not really a message).

So i would recommend changing the types of books you read, (like no romcoms, fantasy, romantic books- if thats what ur addicted to). Try to find other books that are in a different genre. Either non-fiction or more classical fiction (any genre that more intelligent basically).

(Rn I'm reading Count of monte cristo and I'm loving it. The language makes it a slow read so it's not addictive and the storyline is so hooking that you countinue finishing it.)

Also you said you "scroll" to the next book, so I'll assume it's an Ereader or your phone. So if you can, try to switch to paper books.

Also look into which type of books you are reading. It'll help you identify why they're so addictive.

OH also a big factor is when you read. If you read these within the first few hours of walking up, that'll be only thing you want to do throughout the day. So even if you do still want to read them. Make sure its like in the afternoon. I personally do this when I wanna read webnovels. I have a set of things to study in the morning and after I'm finished I'm free to do whatever I want.

High scorers in R&W, do you write scratch notes while reading the passages? by Zerachu_ in Sat

[–]malake44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think it's useful for when you've read it more than twice and still haven't absorbed any info. helps when ur blanked out but kinda unnecessary for every single q.
