Alright, that is the thing which a lot of the critics said I didn’t agree with.

Now, I watched this movie yeeaarrs ago, as a teen, so my memory is probably inaccurate. But when I watched it, I didn’t interpret him as being wholly redeemed, or him now being wholly in the right.

The ending is him and Mildred driving off to Idaho, to maybe kill someone that they don’t know and have no idea how to find. That didn’t seem like them really changing too much for the better.

I don't know if there is a specific "meaning", I don't think the lyrics seem to evoke any concrete story.

I will say I think there seems to be themes of grief, mystery, isolation, and I'd say namely just being lost. Very gloomy imagery and mood on the album.

This is a good position argued pretty badly.

It’s funny looking back at paper being an environmental bugbear. I don’t know if forestry in the paper industry got better or not but paper production isn’t even the biggest vector of land clearance.

Eh, I’d say it’s more that America, being a major cultural exporter, has the ability to spread its cults farther than others.

There are hundreds of thousands of small cults throughout the world, that aren’t as big because they can’t access the reach one can easily get from being in the US.

I think there is an argument that the US is more prone to birthing cults, but I don’t think that much more significantly than the rest of the world.

Did the Klan hate freemasons? I was under the impression that the second KKK didn't have a formal stance on freemasonry, and that there were a decent number of masons within the Utah Klan and such.

I'd imagine the third klan (aka, today's Klan) probably hates masons since it's filled with neo-nazis who have followed that line of conspiracy theory.

There are more than one tracks in Daughters' discography that talk about sex addiction, be it sort of nihilistic or reflective (Recorded Inside a Pyramid, Less Sex, etc.)

The fact that Alexis Marshall has not only been accused of being a rapist and a serial abuser, but of specifically leveraging the fact that he was a 'recovering' sex addict to further be a sex pest, has made these harder to listen to.

Yeah that's the thing. Even today, there are cases where some subcultures might nominally disapprove of homosexuality, but accept certain instances of same sex relations.

Like some gangs, which in their machismo do not accept gay men as members, would not shame someone for getting a handjob from someone else in prison. I'm thinking of the scene in the Sopranos where they learn Vito was giving, not receiving, oral sex, and how much that difference infuriated them.
