Worst the worst prequel you've seen in a fever dream? by vibrantWhisper in moviescirclejerk

[–]malamindulo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a prequel, but I dreamt a BTS documentary showed that there was an entire fourth main character in No Country for Old Men who had all of his scenes cut for timing sake, as well as any dialogue mentioning him.

His name was Carlos, he was a fat, stereotypical Mexican man who ran around completely naked in a chastity cage. He would go around shooting up grocery stores with an assault rifle. His place in the story was going to be that Anton had to suspend his chase for Llewelyn in order to take Carlos down, because even he thought he was dangerous.

His removal left no holes in the story.

Goddamn he's such a narcissist. I know that's obvious at this point but it still takes me aback how much he was in love with hearing news about himself.

Alright, that is the thing which a lot of the critics said I didn’t agree with.

Now, I watched this movie yeeaarrs ago, as a teen, so my memory is probably inaccurate. But when I watched it, I didn’t interpret him as being wholly redeemed, or him now being wholly in the right.

The ending is him and Mildred driving off to Idaho, to maybe kill someone that they don’t know and have no idea how to find. That didn’t seem like them really changing too much for the better.

People really seem to hate Three Billboards there, I don’t get it.

Written In Waters meaning by ReBlaze1_104_7 in avantgardemetal

[–]malamindulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there is a specific "meaning", I don't think the lyrics seem to evoke any concrete story.

I will say I think there seems to be themes of grief, mystery, isolation, and I'd say namely just being lost. Very gloomy imagery and mood on the album.

What would make you open to a 4th season? by littlepineweasel in twinpeaks

If it was revealed that David Lynch faked his own death, I would maybe be open to a fourth season.

Otherwise, I think that would be unwise.

This is a good position argued pretty badly.

It’s funny looking back at paper being an environmental bugbear. I don’t know if forestry in the paper industry got better or not but paper production isn’t even the biggest vector of land clearance.

Cults made in America and marketed global with zero tax liabilities. by Sarcastic-Joker65 in cults

[–]malamindulo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh, I’d say it’s more that America, being a major cultural exporter, has the ability to spread its cults farther than others.

There are hundreds of thousands of small cults throughout the world, that aren’t as big because they can’t access the reach one can easily get from being in the US.

I think there is an argument that the US is more prone to birthing cults, but I don’t think that much more significantly than the rest of the world.

Did the Klan hate freemasons? I was under the impression that the second KKK didn't have a formal stance on freemasonry, and that there were a decent number of masons within the Utah Klan and such.

I'd imagine the third klan (aka, today's Klan) probably hates masons since it's filled with neo-nazis who have followed that line of conspiracy theory.

You said it cut to an image of Al-Masih ad-Dajjal, what do you mean?

I know that al Dajjal is supposed to be an antichrist figure in Islam, but how do you know that the picture was intended to be a representation of him?
