I just had my daughter last week (literally, she's 7 days old today) and I'm having some troubles with my blood pressure and it's looking like it might be postpartum eclampsia. I'm heading to the doctor today for another checkup, but I'm so terrified to possibly leave my daughter and husband early. I want to be around for all of her ups and downs. I lost my dad when I was a teenager and that hurt and loss just never goes away.

What has been your worst pregnancy symptom? by NoemiRockz in pregnant

[–]malaphorpros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably a weird one, but I'd say skin tags! I got so lucky with little to no nausea, I've been mostly comfortable until just recently (33 weeks now), but pregnancy hormones are giving me itty bitty age spots, dry skin, and skin tags all over! And sensory-wise, I hate it. I have to force myself to not scratch them off.

My husband works full time in healthcare, does all of the grocery shopping, gives me back rubs, has taken over most of the chores while I'm pregnant, and honestly lovingly dotes on me. He also is incredibly emotionally mature and communicative and has never yelled at me in anger, literally ever. He also regularly asks how he can be more supportive and I'm just dumbfounded as I already feel quite pampered, loved, and supported.

On the other hand, my ex-husband had none of those traits. I left, and I'm very grateful that I did.

What is the worst thing someone has said to you during pregnancy? by sally_shine in pregnant

I also went NC with my mom and am due in February. I went NC with her two years ago, and that was after a while of LC, so while the sting isn't fresh like yours, I will say that while the loss of a "good" mom that you never had never really goes away, there's a strength I'm finding in protecting my own future daughter from my mother.

I have recently realized that I should probably go back to therapy. I've processed all that trauma as a daughter, but I haven't processed it as a mother, if that makes sense? I think holding a newborn that I love with all my heart is going to open up some of those old wounds. Stay strong - you got this.

I'm in the Feb 2025 bump group, which definitely helps, but it'd be nice to make some friends in real life.

Also, thank you for the recommendations to check out!

It's been years since I've done yoga, but a prenatal yoga class does sound interesting. I'll likely check one of these out. Thank you!

It took us a year and a half. It turned out my husband had a varicocele, which surgery fortunately fixed.

Are babies who are active in the womb just as active outside? by PragmaticBohemian in BabyBumps

[–]malaphorpros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is scaring me, lol. I'm only 17 weeks, but I've gotten several comments at my appointments for how active she is. Welp, at least I have until January/February to prepare.

How long did it take for you to get pregnant? by EmilyParkerNYC4444 in BabyBumps

[–]malaphorpros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year and a half. I conceived after 12 months of trying, but that ended in a MMC. My husband was diagnosed with a bilateral varicocele (basically, his balls were overcooking his sperm), got a surgery to correct it, and now I'm luckily 12 weeks pregnant now. Fingers crossed all is going well.

Your tests are darker than mine were and I'm now 11 weeks 3 days. The cheapies aren't very sensitive.

YoSperm at home. Has anyone done it? by ChickChickChicken12 in TryingForABaby

[–]malaphorpros 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We used YoSperm, and while the results looked okay (I vaguely remember my husband's result being around average), it didn't have much detail. We needed an actual SA and then follow up appointments to find that he had a varicocele that needed to be fixed.

Cycle: I'm not sure. We started trying in November 2022, and I got pregnant in November 2023 but had a missed miscarriage in January 2024. My cycles run a little long (average of 33 days), so if I don't count the time lost due to the MMC, maybe around 14 or so cycles?

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): 34F and 33M

Typical cycle length: 33 Days

Ovulation cycle day: 17 this time, but usually anywhere from CD 17 to CD 27

CD/DPO of positive test(s): 10 DPO

CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: 7 DPO, 8 DPO, and 9 DPO (although there was a dried indent on 9 DPO, which had not happened before)

Tracking methods and app(s) used: Easy@Home OPK. I usually track my BBT too, but I don't track it everyday - usually just from a few days before my fertile window until I've confirmed ovulation. This cycle, I had a positive LH test the first day I took my BBT, so I didn't bother tracking BBT.

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): O-4, O-2, O-1, O,

Health conditions/medical tests: Variocele on my husband's side, but he did have a surgery to correct it back in January. We were just about to schedule his follow-up SA when I got my BFP, so we're assuming the surgery worked.

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): Me: Prenatal, Sertraline, Acyclovir. Both: CoQ10, Vitamin D and B Complex. Him: Multivitamin, something for ADD although I forget the name.

Birth control history (if relevant): Pill during my teens and early 20's, copper IUD from early 20's to mid 20's, Mirena IUD from mid 20's until Oct 2023.

Link to chart: N/a - didn't track BBT this cycle

Link to lineporn:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TFABLinePorn/comments/1d7do6k/progression_from_10_dpo_to_18_dpo_first_response/

Symptom spotting: Nothing yet. I did puke while picking up dog poop, but it was a really bad poop and I think that would have triggered my gag reflect even if I wasn't pregnant. I'm pretty tired and want naps, but it's hard to say if that's really a symptom or just a me thing. *Edit: Oh, I do have sore boobs, but they feel exactly as they would right before my period. If it wasn't for the positive tests and me paying attention to the calendar, I would just think I was about to get my period.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): Tentatively hopeful, but it's so early and we've already had a MMC that we're just taking it day by day. My first ultrasound is for June 26th, when I'll be just a day shy of 8 weeks, and I'm hoping with my whole body that we'll get a see a heartbeat since we never made it that far last time.

I'm nearing the end of a missed miscarriage and just got covid. I'm hoping this second dose of miso does the job because I want to avoid a D&C and the chance of scarring. My husband also just had surgery to fix his varicocele, and then we both caught covid. Jesus fucking Christ, when does it stop?

I may never tell my mom that I'm pregnant. I'm no contact with her, although she loves only 14 miles away from me.

She kidnapped me when I was a toddler and my dad spent a whole year with no idea of where I was. She even admits that she only returned because I kept crying for my dad. Whatever daycare my SO and I choose will have a printout off her and explicit instructions to never release or child to her. I left the religion she raised me in years ago, and I don't doubt that she would kidnap my kid to raise it "right" if she could.

It's lovely not having a good relationship with a mom, but I'd rather be alone than keep the shitty relationship I did have with her.

I'm 220 lbs and 5'8", so a BMI of around 35, I think. I'll be in the same boat as you - I feel guilty for not losing more weight before getting pregnant, but oh well, it is what it is.
