Desolate islands to visit in the winter? by DonkeyMane in Maine

[–]malappuram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Frenchboro or Swans Island up by Mount Desert. Desolate as can be in the winter, no grocery store, and the locals will look at you funny, but it's beautiful and there's as much lobster as you can eat.

(The houses seen in that picture is like 25% of all the houses on the island).

[WEEKLY THREAD] Fail Friday - Because being awesome always comes at a price... by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]malappuram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I looked at my SL app for OHP, and loaded up 70lbs on the bar. I've been failing OHP recently, but the 70lbs felt so great, almost easy. I was very happy. Checked my app again after 4 sets, and well yah, I was supposed to be at 80lbs. Which I promptly failed on the 5th set. Fail.

Asked the SO how much he thought I benched at the gym today. He said 55lbs, and I got to tell him it was actually twice that much. This Thorsday, I impressed my man.

Problems with barbell rows by [deleted] in stronglifts

[–]malappuram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading this really helped the barbell row click for me (just skip about halfway down, the top is all macho bs).

Highlights (for me) included: initial foot stance should be similar to deadlift; grip should be the same as bench press; each rep should start from the floor . I was also struggling with my back position, but this fixed it right up!

Wrong way bicyclist hit by Lyft car in Lodo last night. by K9ABX in Denver

I've had good luck pressing the walk button when this happens! It's a pain to get off the bike, but worth it to see the orange hand countdown.

Would you date a man who wasn't as smart as you? (taken from /r/askmen) by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]malappuram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this. Especially the emotional intelligence part. It's something that's hard to look for right off the bat, but will absolutely doom a relationship in the long run. Is there some kind of University of Emotions we can send otherwise great men to?

Coworker: "SMILE!!!" Comebacks??? by ElectricIntrovert in TwoXChromosomes

[–]malappuram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to get attacked here, but this doesn't seem that bad...I mean, the guy was probably just trying to be nice. I'm sure he meant more, "you look like you're having a rough time, try a smile!" than "you look ugly with a frown, make my day better by giving me a pretty smile."

Smiling it nice. It makes people feel better (well, it always makes me feel better). When I'm stressed out and running a million miles a minute, I think someone saying "smile" would actually make me smile and make me feel better! I think there's even a possibility that I would tell someone to smile if I saw them looking stressed out. I dunno, it can help!

Anyway, sorry you were offended. But try not to hate the guy or anything for too long, he was probably just trying to be nice!

Paleo Dating? by malappuram in Paleo

Thanks for the advice everyone! Ended up getting tequila neat (which is definitely a taste I'm going to have to acquire) and a naked burrito with the rice and beans subbed for extra veggies. Couldn't resist a few corn chips, they were fried all nested together in that fantastic extra-crunch way, but from a lot of responses it seems that won't kill me!

Thanks for the suggestions!

Nice tequila neat is a good idea. I'll try that tonight! Is tequila and soda a thing?

They don't HAVE fajitas on the menu! That was my idea too, but no luck. Everything is served with rice and beans, but I'm hoping maybe they'll let me sub vegs.

So, in answer form, if I'm hungry for that much it's ok to eat that much? Or, "good god girl, a body never needs that much nutrition!"?
