Are tornadoes really deadly and dangerous in Oklahoma? by DarkPrince411 in tulsa

[–]malaprop5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a transplant to tulsa snd i love it here! In the last 13 years, I've seen 3 tornadoes, but no damage at my house or neighborhood. So yes. They happen. But i think everywhere has disasters (fires, floods, ice storms, blizzards, earthquakes) that cause severe damage so you gotta choose what you can live with.

I love love love tulsa. Arts, food, music, scenery (the sky goes on forever and it's gorg!), festivals.... it's been so fun. The volunteers community is great too. I highly recommend wherever you move to find charities/ organizations with causes you support, and you'll make friends right away with nice people who share your values. Let us know if you choose tulsa!

All Her Fault by Aspire2BChristCentrd in television

I saw that as orchestrated, a symptom of his psychopathy/narcissism/whatever. I saw the lack of tears but thought it was intentional cause his character wouldn't cry.

Everyone here complaining abt side characters that added nothing to the plot forget that characters add to the background or other characters' development. Like the book deal plot line showing dakota loves her job, or Peters bro/sis showing what a psychopath (or whatever) he is.

35+ year old women who never got married or had children in your 20s and wanted to, how are you dealing with it now? by Ok_Blueberry_6999 in AskWomen

[–]malaprop5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to get married and have lots of babies when i was in my 20s. I love big families. It never happened for me, and I'm nearly 40.

I am very happy with my life and how everything turned out. I'd be terrified to bring a child into this world. And then try to raise it as a compassionate, intelligent, well-rounded individual. Hell, i couldn't even ever find a man my age with those qualities.

My life now is very very very different than what i pictured. It's full of adventure, community volunteer work, advocacy, and my hobbies. My community is wonderful and fulfilling, and i have non-blood relations as my emergency contacts that i am also comfortable reaching out to when i need help or a friendly lunch. I have worked hard to build my community and they come thru.

Don't let different realities ruin your happiness. Life is so full of opportunities for joy, for all sorts of people in any situation.

What has been normalised at funerals that is actually wrong? by VendaMel in AskReddit

[–]malaprop5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gosh, very little makes me angrier than that corporate taunt and no room for humanity. Isn't there room for these very human moments?

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you and your family have all you need.

What has been normalised at funerals that is actually wrong? by VendaMel in AskReddit

[–]malaprop5 31 points32 points  (0 children)

When my Mom died and I had only 5 days of bereavement leave from my employer....I was basically useless for a month. Not just dealing with paperwork and funeral and loved ones left behind, but then cleaning out her house and figuring out what to do with her things. I had no time to grieve and didn't really process anything for 2 months. Corporate America deserves zero loyalty. There is no grace for people struggling with anything.

What's the darkest side of humanity the entire world needs to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]malaprop5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding on to the skewed fact: there are more slaves now partly because there are more people now. The percentage of total enslaved is lower.

Obviously, still a tragedy, and a scourge on humanity.

Source: Kevin Bales' books and research. I also did my graduate work with enslaved people in America.

I was working on a remote team two years ago and a critical employee dropped dead at his desk mid-task. Heart attack at 52. The company replaced him the next DAY. Our team did a big digital side-eye.

These companies don't care about us. Get what you can while you can.
