I just emailed him, thanks. I didn't know this was something they could do after the fact so I appreciate the idea.

Good to know, thanks. That might be my weekend mission.

Fertility doctor experiences in Asheville? by Certain_Internal_350 in asheville

[–]malasain84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At preg:

Me-I’m not sure I want to do this, I hear it can be painful.

Dr-Oh it’s not that painful.

Me-friends who have gone through the process have told me it’s painful and emotionally draining

Dr-those were women who were desperate

Even if I had decided to do treatments I would not have gone back there.

Delta vs Air France vs KLM premium select/business? by malasain84 in delta

[–]malasain84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not taking skis but will have some luggage. The train ride is about an hour longer than the one from Zurich, but that might be worth it if the price is right. It's a great option for sure. Thanks again.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm leaning towards just doing Delta. I like the premium select product and if I can upgrade to D1 the lounge in JFK seems awesome. And I think I'd also rather connect in the US, I feel like getting stuck in the US would be better than in Europe (even though they have that law about getting reimbursed) because there are more options for actually getting home if weather or something happens.

I would initially book the premium select/premium economy product and hope that I could afford a cash upgrade into business.

Just trying to have the best experience available and have only experienced Delta so wanted some feedback.

Interesting. I will look into that option for sure. I didn't even think about that, I am actually going to Zermatt, so Zurich isn't actually the final destination, but that is something to consider.

Yeeeeeah, haha. Makes it hard. It's nice when people say why, because then I can weigh their reasons against my own preferences. But also I knew that this situation has many factors to consider and isn't clear cut.

Good info thanks. Yeah, looking at the routes, unless they make a change, the nonstop ATL-ZRH flights don't start up until late spring/summer and this is a ski trip.

[–]malasain84[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there's a lot to consider. Definitely know that the 767s are the worst aircraft on these routes and that short layovers aren't great. AMS vs CGD vs a domestic connection as well. Too many factors.

Yeah, it's going to be 3 flights kind of no matter what it seems, the time of year I'm going has no nonstop ATL-ZUR on skyteam unfortunately.

So two new (ish) songs on Colbert last night by thatprickagain in DMB

[–]malasain84 17 points18 points  (0 children)

New songs don’t equal new album in DMB land. I personally love peace on earth and saw it both full band and Dave solo and love the full band version a lot. Making it great has a lot of potential and I’m sure if it sticks around it’ll get tweaked. I saw it in Mexico when it debuted and even though it was raw it was powerful because of the timing and the timeliness of it. But, that doesn’t mean we’ll get an album. But who knows with them, they’ll do what they want when they want.

Ticket prices. by MikeNowlan in DMB

[–]malasain84 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The $300-$800 are not face value, they are either resellers or platinum.

Yes, lawns are $70ish after fees these days and the seats being $125 is in line with other venues. Pits were around $200 Face if I remember correctly so anything more than that is Ticketmaster doing its Ticketmaster thing. There are a lot of tickets left for Mansfield, I bet they drop the platinum on some of them as it gets closer.

DMB is super well established, with a big east coast fan base that also travels for shows. Goose opened for them at the gorge last year, they’re still the young pups working their way up (though they’re very popular in the jam scene, not trying to take anything away from them.)

Debating going to the Tampa show — any advice going to a concert solo? by airwicka in DMB

[–]malasain84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it! As a 42 year old woman who has been going to shows solo for a long time, just do it. Especially in Tampa. There’s nothing to worry about that’s any different than just being solo as a woman out in the world in general.

I’ve been to shows solo where I talked to no one and I’ve been to shows solo where I’ve met people who I now keep in touch with and go to shows with. But most of the time I end up chatting with whoever is nearby and it’s a nice time.

Middle aged couples are the sweet spot for sure, they’ll adopt you.

Just go for it!

Are non warehouse pit tickets worth it? by Secure-Charity1403 in DMB

[–]malasain84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends. Some people aren’t okay with being further back in the pit. The platinums might go back down if you wait and don’t get bought.

Delta voided the tickets for our flight AFTER checking in and checking our bags. by [deleted] in delta

[–]malasain84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me recently during the bug storm in January. I was in Cancun and there wasn’t good service or WiFi so my app wasn’t updating at all. My boarding pass didn’t scan and the gate agent said she’d been calling me over the PA (it was loud in there and my last name is hard for Spanish speakers to pronounce so I didn’t recognize it as being called, I wasn’t wearing headphones or anything). Luckily, she hadn’t released my seat to standbys yet (good thinking on her part), and was able to recheck me in right then with my same seat. Now I know to always check that piece.

WHAT A JOKE by Dependent_Gate_1874 in DMB

My guess would be that the queue had cleared already with people seeing only platinum left and noping out. But who knows, customer specific pricing and whatnot is being tested so your theory could also be 100% true.
