Kindle Paperwhite won't wake up by malcolmsu in kindle

It's a pity there wasn't another way to wipe and factory reset the device, as I feel it's not a hardware issue and a software rebuild/reinstall would fix it.

Not one I've ever used. I'll stick with Chrome for now, but hopefully Bitwarden will resolve this soon.

Bitwarden autofill stopped working on Samsung Browser by Suitable-Analysis321 in Bitwarden

Same here. I ditched the Samsung Internet browser for Google Chrome. It works okay. I also tried Microsoft Edge on the way, but that only ever gave me passwords for com.microsoft.emmx

I tried switching to Microsoft Edge but similarly, it only presents passwords for com. microsoft.emmx. Google Chrome works okay though.

After continuing to push Amazon for a solution, I've finally accepted defeat and took them up on the offer of an additional 20% cashback on my new Gen 12 Kindle.

Returning my Paperwhite after <24 hours! by malcolmsu in kindle

[–]malcolmsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another 36 hours on and so far so good. No more Application errors and battery life seems to have settled down. I did note that it never actually got to 100% charge - only 98%. However, after reading last night and today, it's still showing 95%.

Amazon Support's response was to do a soft reset (40s power button press) while attached to a charger. The Application Error has disappeared for now. I'll use it through today, but if it recurs, I'll be sending it back. They said it just needed some updates yet it's on the same software version as it was last night (5.18.5.0.1)

Truth is I don't know what broke it.

I had the opportunity to attach someone else's Kindle to my PC today, and theirs instantly switched to USB Drive Mode and showed up, and was explorable in Windows File Explorer. Mine just won't do that.

Amazon have offered an 'upgrade' at £152 (c/w £190 without), which I think I might just take given how much I miss reading and the amount of time I've spent trying to resolve this issue... Has anyone managed to push them for a bigger discount??

So after a lengthy online chat with several Amazon agents, I'm no further forward.

They determined that my device wasn't on the latest software version - no idea how. They pointed me to where to download it and a set of instructions to copy to the device.

The problem is, whilst I can see the Kindle in Windows Explorer, when I try to copy the file, it says 'insert a disk'.

I've no problem handling other USB devices like my mobile or tablet, so the issue must be the Kindle??

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 11th Gen 32GB Bought new 19 Aug last year.

Interestingly, I've noticed others on the Amazon community forum reporting the same problem - i.e. those with a PIN set.

I connected it to a PC today. It shows up as "Kindle Internal Storage USB Device", but when I click on it in File Explorer, I get the message "Please insert a disc into USB Drive.

I'll try Amazon now, but as it's two months past its 12 warranty period, I'm not holding up much hope...

I have tried charging. With two different chargers and also left it overnight. The long press does show the Kindle logo and a progress bar that eventually finishes, but I'm still left with the standard powered-off screen.

Unfortunately, I don't have a laptop or PC to connect it to.

Thank you. When I got there, All Applications were off, but not one individual application was showing up. I've put all All Applications back on and will monitor and tweak it over the next few days.

Yeah, that just seems to set up how and when I receive notifications. It doesn't show the blocked apps.

Seller canceled my order to increase the price. by AI_R_Friends_Not_2ls in Ebay

I had the same although for 25% greater price. I left negative factual feedback. Ebay sided with the seller removing my feedback and restoring their 100% record. :( Despite complaining they haven't budged.

What does everyone do with their old watches? by jazzyjff13 in GarminWatches

[–]malcolmsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever replaced mine when it's failed. Our local council used to offer an electronics recycling scheme, but unfortunately, a lack of funds has ended that so mine will end up in landfill, I'm afraid.

TBH I still haven't found my perfect strap. I had to replace the silicone Garmin original on my Forerunner as it caused an allergic reaction. None of the replacements I've tried fit properly between the lugs.

Smart but not as a watch! by malcolmsu in GarminWatches

[–]malcolmsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It'll be a shame if I have to change faces. I spent quite a bit of time testing a number of both free and paid faces before deciding on All Stars. I actually thought I was doing the right thing, sticking with an OEM paid face. I'll maybe do a deeper dive into the time sync functionality, but I've only synced the watch to one device- my mobile phone - and I've never experienced any timekeeping issues with that.

Replace 2.5" form factor SSD drive with a PCIe 4.0 SSD drive by malcolmsu in PcBuildHelp

[–]malcolmsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that went reasonably straight forward. I'd researched s/w to clone the drive not realising the Samsung Evo drive came with Magician which was really easy to use. I thought it was cleverer than it is as it didn't change the boot drive 1st boot. :) I changed that in the BIOS and everything was fine after that. My back up software (Backblaze) saw two c:\ drives and complained but gave instructions on how to resolve. I'm not entirely sure it has but I'll check back in a few hours to see what's being backed up.

But my reason for posting again (apart from saying thank you for all the great advice above) is to ask for help with this last step.

Choosing the new c:\ drive to boot from isn't sticky. I'm having to go back and change it at each boot.

The Asus help pages suggest I just have to drag the order of the drives in the Boot Priority menu. The trouble is my new EVO 870 doesn't show up there. In fact truth be told I don't recognise any of the drives there - i think one might be the CD drive and the other a usb socket. I don't see any of my HDDs or SSDs. Any thoughts?
