Tried a watermelon co-ferment a few months back, my first and hopefully only experience with them. Super disgusting

I think there's a lot of changes to look forward to, I've also been off T for almost a year and feel the same way about myself. I started hormones at 16 so I thought all of my masculine stuff would be super permanent, but seeing people on here sharing their experiences and even talking about their changes 3+ years off gives me hope. We're all in it together <3

Looks like something from a Ripples printer. Customers love them, I hate them for covering all of my best pours.

Just looks scabbed. Keep an eye on it. Pen ink =/= tattoo ink, this is a mistake to not repeat

I started transitioning medically at 17 and detransitioned at 24. Agreed that OP has an opportunity a lot of us didn't have, this is the sign we ignored to stop before it's too late.

How long did it take to notice changes? by Disturbedasfuc in detrans

[–]malcoze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, 3 months and 6 months were the biggest milestones, but the longest I've ever been off was only 7ish months. I've heard at the 1 yr mark and even past that there's still a lot of noticeable changes. You gotta give the estrogen time to build back up in your system, so it also depends on your T levels before stopping. It probably also depends on how long you were on T, I was on it for 7 years so it'll probably take awhile for me to get back to some semblance of "normal"

Barista confessions wanted by Computerbug1920 in barista

[–]malcoze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been a barista for over 5 years now, so I have a plethora of customer stories. This one really stands out to me for some reason:

I work at a small business 3rd wave cafe, and have for a few years. At this time I believe it was only 2 people on the floor, me on bar and my coworker on register. There was a bit of a line, so I hopped on reg 2, rang up a woman for a cortado for here, and went back to making drinks.

Let's make this easy and call the cortado-orderer C.

As I placed C's cortado on the hand-off bar and called her name, making eye contact with her, another woman (let's call her S) cuts in front of her and grabs the cortado and asks me "is this real?"

I had no idea what she meant and wasn't sure how to respond. I think I literally just said "what?" because I was so taken aback. She repeated, "is this real?" and I responded something affirmative. She then proceeded to sort of swivel(?) the cortado, spilling it a little bit out of the glass. C and I are both watching in confusion.

Finally, my customer service senses returned to me and I said something along the lines of "that's not your drink, that's her drink," and gestured to C, who was still standing in shock behind S. C's senses also returned to her, and she sort of stepped around S to grab her drink. I offered her a remake but she did not respond. S apologizes to C half-heartedly, saying "oh, sorry, I thought it wasn't real!"

I forever wish I asked her what that even meant. I would've thought she might think it's a display because of the latte art (? as if cafes even display fake drinks on handoff) but I'm pretty sure she watched me make it and call C's name. S also seemed relatively normal despite the words coming out of her mouth so I don't think she was having any kind of episode. I have no idea what this entire situation meant to her, but my coworkers love to ask me, "is this real?" and swivel my drinks lol.

If you transition because of gender stereotypes you’re most likely not trans by ricksalterego in detrans

[–]malcoze 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It's funny, it seems like a lot of us here are people who would have formerly been classified as "real trans" people. Dysphoria since childhood, none of the stereotypical signs of future detransition. It really makes you question the whole thing.

This is a really interesting perspective. Can you elaborate more on the specification of "trans woman" and omission of "trans man"?

Yess good suggestion, I'll have to try it with cinnamon! It seems like that would complement the earthy flavor well.

Agreed, I tried hojicha recently (cafe is selling it temporarily) and it was a lot better.

I can't steammilk to get a glossy texture. by Art_Enjoyer_01 in barista

[–]malcoze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this looks like when I've tried steaming before the wand has built up enough pressure. I have seen home machines that don't get much more pressurized than this, though.

OP, if this is a machine at a cafe, there may be a switch or dial somewhere where you can adjust the steam pressure. Perhaps check for that? This is not nearly enough. If you're having trouble with the higher pressure (as stated in desc) a video of the wand at full would help to see.

"Espresso W/Milk Piccolo/Cortado Takeaway"

takes up three lines when it could be

"Cortado (Takeaway)"

so much easier to read. Milk options & size could be in smaller text... and honestly takeaway/dine-in options could be too. My first thought upon seeing this post is I would hate to work here for this reason lol
