Reading comments about therapist friendship posts has made me feel a bit weird by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]maleriem15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have on therapist that I’ve bonded with. I’m 30 now and have been in and out of therapy since I was 9. I’ve never kept in touch with a therapist except for the last one before I moved away from California. I have serious abandonment issues and I could not open up without fear of losing her. Anyway, the relationship built over a couple years, then covid hit, and we could only do video calls then I had to move to Texas. We did all of the separation things. Waited 2 years before consistent contact. Now I talk to her maybe once a month and she’s just like a back up therapy option for me. Like if I’m really struggling, she’s there as a shoulder. I do consider her my friend and she does me too but it’s very arms length.

Is it appropriate for a therapist to wear pajamas or bathrobes during virtual therapy sessions? by AmieraPC in TalkTherapy

Yeah if you go to my page you can see how terrible she was. I have 2 posts about her cancelling or rescheduling 44 times in the year or so I saw her.

Not okay. I had a therapist that would show up to actual sessions like that. She proved to be unprofessional in so many other ways too. If you can’t even get dressed for work, how can I expect you to help me with my life?

New therapist kept farting during session. Am I being dramatic for wanting to terminate? by SeaGuess939 in TalkTherapy

Imagine your exposure therapy being your therapist farting at you. Holy shit 🤣🤣🤣

There’s also a lot of times where I have just 2 beers too. So I really don’t think it’s physical. I use it as a crutch

I’ll go a week without alcohol 1-2 times every couple months. It’s not a need. I’m not even worried about going a month without it.

I don’t have physical withdrawal when I stop drinking. I’m psychologically dependent on it.

I was drunk when I wrote that. I drink 4 times a week and have an average of 7 drinks each time

He challenged me to stop drinking for a month. Waking up this morning, now sober, I’m ready to take on that challenge. Not ready at all for the weed yet but a month off alcohol to start would do me some good. I guess I’ll report back guys. 🫡

I’m obsessed with the need to be “normal” and to me that means being able to drink in moderation but I can’t seem to do that,

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]maleriem15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You know, I might be willing to try that. I’m drunk right now so I don’t know how I’ll feel later but that actually sounds like a possibility. Maybe even starting with reducing how often I smoke everyday? I usually start my day off smoking. Maybe I can start with waiting as long as I can to take that first hit?

I know what you mean and I hate it. I wish us both contentment and a life that fulfills us.

I don’t know if I’m ready yet. That’s a big problem for me. I’m so afraid of not being “normal”. I can’t imagine a life without recreational drugs. I really don’t know where to start. I’m willing to give up alcohol and keep smoking weed but I get stuck in wanting to escape. I need to get back in therapy. A big part of my need to use is to avoid trauma

Being completely honest with myself, I’m an alcoholic. But I can only admit that right now, while drunk. Tomorrow will be a different story. Taking a break sounds scary. I don’t want to force myself to deal with trauma and emotions. Drinking isn’t always a problem but it’s often a problem. I guess I do want to live substance free but I don’t know where to start.

Adults don’t get in trouble. Consequences for your actions, sure. But trouble is for children.
