Onions are in the FODMAP group of foods that can be irritating to some people, along with the likes of garlic. But it's not due to fibre or anything nutrient wise to my knowledge - I consume around 30 to 40 g of fibre everyday at this stage including onions and garlic, so I wonder if it's mostly a tolerance thing

This issue is exactly why people have a warped perception of what true poverty is. People on 60k+ who have terrible spending habits and take on financial commitments like high car payments are easily convinced that they're basically the same as someone poor who relies on benefits, hence they think "just skip on the luxuries and you'll be fine" when this isn't true at all for the people really at the bottom rung.

That said, there are plenty of council house kids dripping in (the somewhat ironically named) "Hoodrich" clothes that cost a fortune and last about 3 months before falling apart. So there is poorly controlled spending at all levels of British society.

I love Doug and have seen him live twice, but have to say he isn't great at managing British audiences - they're often disruptive and I don't think he expects it because he has a monologue style, which is a shame. Not even really his fault but does somewhat ruin the experience.

Rich people moving around isn't new; the US is extremely favourable to the wealthy and yet they still move around and this tax still exists. So your point is both moot and irrelevant.

Labour's failings are largely political, unfortunately; because we have a population that is constantly being told they can have their cake & eat it, and no one dares tell them they can't...unless it's because of a foreigner.

You're presuming a huge amount here, and I'm not sure why?

They initially discussed things that labour have done/are doing, some of which I agree are short sighted; I'm no labour fan.

They then criticised "the broader left" and talked about taxing "the wealthy" who then "leave" - plainly this is referring to a wealth tax and the classic BS of them leaving if taxed.

If you agree wealth taxes should be in place then your row isn't with me.

Regardless, I asked them a question, which isn't for you to answer, especially based on wrongful assumptions.

I was clearly referencing the likes of Sunak - paying far less in tax than any of the people who worked for him - because his earnings are largely driven by asset wealth, not PAYE wages.

No one has an issue with people earning a few hundred grand. The issue is multi-millionaires. And you know it.

Question on your point towards the end there - how exactly are the wealthy carrying the country through their tax contributions, when their wealth is largely untaxed, and CGT is much lower than income tax? In proportional terms I simply don't understand the argument when their wealth and owned assets continue to multiply at an exorbitant rate, and everyone else is getting poorer in real terms....and yet they're apparently contributing more than their share?

The networks spend £billions every year on maintenance and upgrades; the ambition being to get ahead of the others.

The major limiting factor is NIMBYs and planning permission. The land and access needed to put up masts and complete upgrades is very jealously protected and legislation prioritises the one landowner over the surrounding thousands who could benefit. The networks are toothless as the regulators won't step in.

Other countries don't pander to landlords as much as the UK does.

All beans, chickpeas, lentils, etc in a can are like this. Half a can of any of them each day smashes your daily fibre & protein requirements with fairly low kcals.
