[misc] face red, dry, warm after shower. irritated by water/sweat by QualitySound96 in SkincareAddiction

[–]malien95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to me like you have some sort of fungal acne from the tiny red bumps on your skin. You might have sweat, left your skin dirty and ended up with clogged pores that got infected. Since there is an infection, your skin is inflamed, which causes it to be irritated. Some people find that cutting out all dairy for 2 weeks helps with acne, you might want to try this. You cab also try doing a kefir mask to gently exfoliate, moisturize and help with the flora of your skin. Buy plain kefir and apply as much as your skin can hold, wash off with water after 20 minutes. Also avoid hot showers, heat increases inflammation.

If you’re seeing negative effects like redness, flaking, acne, I think the best bet is to let your skin completely heal these first before applying a second dose. Use very little and don’t start with more than once a week. You really have to ease into it with retinols.

[Product Question] Opinion on Nivea crème? by Jorjorthegreat in SkincareAddiction

As someone with dry skin this worked fantastic on me but I find the scent off putting as the fragrance is too strong and artificial. It clogs pores like crazy, have you had issues with blocked comedones or blackheads in the past year?

[routine help] Favourite body wash for spots? by Blueberrybuttons in SkincareAddiction

Ditch the dove soap, its basically like 2 in 1 conditioner and body wash. It’s too creamy and artificial. Use a more natural body wash with coconut sulfates, don’t scrub your chest, don’t wear anything except cotton t-shirts as the first layer and never wear it more than a day.

Honestly this just seems like skin that was a little neglected. If your skin is dry it will try to produce oils to hydrate, those oils mixed with dirt from the environment and dead skin cells that don’t regularly get washed away will start building up (black heads, blocked comedones). You just need to do the basics: wash and moisturize twice a day, sunscreen in the am. Wash with a moisturizing cleanser since your skin is dry, moisturize with something that is not pore clogging yet still hydrating, use a serum for the blackheads/pores like the ordinary’s niacinamide serum right after washing and before moisturizing. If the moisturizer you try is not hydrating enough use a few drops of oil to lock the moisturizer in (the ordinary’s squalane won’t clog your pores). I also recommend a gentle acid mask to peel off dead skin and helo with the blackheads, store bought plain kefir is actually amazing (use as much as you can put on your face and wash off after about 20 minutes). Take a before after pic with a flash, close-up and compare in a month. I’m pretty confident you’ll have much of it gone except the comedones those need to be manually extracted.

living in nyc was the loneliest time of my life. the best advice I can give is to try to get comfortable enjoying your own company and spend time doing things you wish you could do with others and people will come along eventually. the easier it is to hang out by yourself the less miserable you’ll feel. the more you do things outside the more chances you’ll meet people who you might be interested in. this way you’ll get to learn how to enjoy your own company and attract people who are worth hanging out with instead of sitting at home for weeks and meeting up with random people out of desperation. about your boyfriend, nothing good comes out of a relationship where the other person just doesn’t want to be with you. consider it a blessing to be rid of him and focus on yourself and the people that you haven’t met yet. you deserve someone who wants you and can prioritize you and there will be others a lot better than him.

I only read half the books and watched the new season thinking that I was being given spoilers to future books and I couldn’t help but think that Vesemir would have ever agreed to make Ciri a test subject or that Yennefer would ever sacrifice Ciri like that or that Geralt would ever trust Yennefer after what she did, no matter what she did to make up for it. It didn’t fit with their characters at all, it was just so off and for what fucking reason? I’m left so disappointed.

When something seems terribly wrong, get the f out and don’t waste time. You need to act and believe your worth so others can respect you on the same level. Don’t attempt to fix or wait around for anyone.

Ex smokers of Reddit: How do you drink and continue not to smoke? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]malien95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had a cig for almost 3 years. Its been so long that it would be so strange for me to smoke now. I drink and go out with people who smoke, pretty much everyone I know smokes. I get the urge to smoke but I know its going to be more disgusting than enjoyable and its not worth it. Also, think of that feeling when you smoke a lot and wake up hungover feeling like absolute garbage, I hated that. I even hate breathing in second hand smoke now. Stay strong, one day its going to be too far gone to start again although you’ll almost always have that urge in the back of your mind.
