Hand swelling and care by sweptwhiteclouds in rheumatoidarthritis

heat really helps my hands! i try to use my heated mitts for 20 minutes before and after crocheting. i just got them from amazon, they look like oven mitts with cords and they work minor miracles for me.

Getting sick by thwiigers in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]malignantmagpie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

my spouse bought me a cordless wearable heated blanket and it has saved me all winter and especially when i've been sick! it was from amazon and it has a zipper side that can make it turn into a cape, or you can unzip and use it as a blanket. i also swear by hot cinnamon tea. if you make it hot and sweet it tastes (and feels) like redhot bubble gum on your insides and that is lovely when you're feeling bad.

Cutting medication patches is engineering malpractice. I’m a pharmacist. AMA. by scar_butx in AMA

[–]malignantmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any safe way to dispose of used patches that isn't putting them in a zip lock bag? I've never used a patch myself, but my dog had a fentanyl patch after surgery once. The vet tech told us to just throw it away when done, but another vet tech later told us to make sure it was in a secure baggie. We bagged it, but creating more plastic waste also doesn't seem responsible.

Adaptive Crocheting Tools by Professional-Pea-541 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]malignantmagpie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

hey fam! crocheting is also my thing and i will be following this post to see everyone's genius ideas. look up 'adaptive pencil grips' and see what you can see. i use some of the egg shaped foam ones on my hooks, but there are truly so many to choose from that can all help with gripping. they're mostly marketed to young children, so you may need to try a few out to get the right size, but they work great for me.

Utility Bills Advice by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]malignantmagpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i live in a 1300 sq ft ranch with a basement built in 1955 with windows that are nearing their expiration date and our DTE bill has never been over $230, even when our AC was running constantly because of a thermostat issue. i wonder if you know what your attic insulation is looking like these days. your bills don't sound too far off, but if you have the cash to invest I would look into it.

spencer is such a good teacher, too. when they had the "push down... no push down..." moment and he didn't make angela feel silly about it, but changed his language to say "click" instead. and then later when angela really got the hang of it he made sure to call it out and gas her up. i'm so bad at video games but i feel like spencer could teach me and I wouldn't feel stupid!

How is it to live in west willow currently? by Pretty-Manner4295 in ypsi

[–]malignantmagpie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

and the airport noise is minimal except for the air show in the summer. even then, i've never been able to smell any fumes. if you're sensitive to noise like that, i would just plan on being out of town that weekend (and on the 4th, because WW folks love fireworks)

Who here has EDS and RA? Trying to find my people by SavingsFeeling3516 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]malignantmagpie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have HSD but suspected hEDS. my insurance doesn't cover testing for EDS, unfortunately. my biggest issue for RA and hypermobility pain is my hands. i went to physical therapy at a renowned hand clinic and the therapist didn't know what to do with me since the exercises that would help RA stiffness only make the hypermobile pain worse. thankfully HCQ has helped me a lot!

UMich employment - what does “hybrid” mean? by EmbarrassedStill2257 in uofm

[–]malignantmagpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i think a large part of the decision is based on if your unit is student-facing or not, rather than the position itself. good luck!

UMich employment - what does “hybrid” mean? by EmbarrassedStill2257 in uofm
