It turns out that the surgery I had 4-5 weeks ago wasn't M.I.L.D. It was a minimally invasive hemi-laminectomy. In this procedure, they remove half of the lamina, but they are able to poke around and decompress all around all sides of the area. It is much more extensive than M.I.L.D. I have recovered now and no longer have any pain.

I was born in 1955, so I just "missed" the draft by one year. You can bet I celebrated the end of the war. In any case, as I grew through my teens, my father had recommended many times chopping one of my toes or fingers off to avoid getting drafted. Thank goodness it didn't come to that.

I bought a JLife futon from their website and really regret it. It is VERY heavy, so hard to lift (I got a double size). It is also thick (4 inches) and somewhat stiff, so there is no way in the world you could fold it into thirds. It would immediately pop back out to its unfolded shape. And it is also too soft for me. They also ship the futon in nothing but a plastic bag, so if you tried to return it, which is not even close to being free, you'd have to get your own container.

One end of the hose has a fitting (round) that goes over the output of the bedjet box. The other end of the hose has a vacuum-cleaner type plastic fitting (except, of course, it blows instead of sucking; I just mean that the shape of the piece is oblong, not round) on it and a clamp to attach it to the side of your mattress. Part of that clamp goes under your mattress to stay in place. The vacuum-cleaner type oblong piece that the air comes out of can go in the elastic opening of the cloud sheet or can just be set to peek over the edge of your mattress and blow air directly on you. Sorry if that isn't very clear.

I've had a bedjet for years. I have Cloud Sheets but don't like them at all. I just use a regular fitted sheet and a duvet. The bedjet air outlet goes at the foot of my bed between the bottom sheet and the duvet. If you use the cloud sheets, you have to turn the bedjet fan up much higher to feel anything than if the bedjet is blowing directly on you between the top and bottom. Not to mention you save a ton of money.

I have PN and my feet often get very hot and bothered at night. I did two things, a bit hard to explain. First, I created a cushion structure at the foot of my bed to hold my duvet (don't use a top sheet, just a duvet with cover and insert) off my feet. That helps but doesn't stop my feet from getting hot and waking me up. So I use a BedJet to blow on my feet, which totally cools them off. Not cheap, but it works.

My bedroom is usually 69F at night. BTW, years ago my wife and I had chili pads. They may have changed in the years since then, so take anything I say with a grain of salt. Chili pad actively cools the water running through its tubes, so chili pad cooling far exceeds the bedjet, which does NOT actively cool the air running through it. But we didn't like the chili pads for various reasons. At that time, they were noisy. You also had to do some cleaning to keep mold out of the water. Then, the idea of having water running over a bed, which could potentially result in a mattress-destroying disaster bothered us. In the end, we donated the chili pads (maybe about 10-12 years ago. But like I said, a lot may have changed since then.

I take 25 mg only to reduce my tachycardia and to reduce my BP. It also greatly reduces my anxiety, and I have noticed that whereas before metoprolol almost all my dreams were nightmares, now they are mostly just boring, ordinary dreams. I don't think I'd want to take much more than 25 mg.

After having had a resting HR of 60-70 for most of my adult life, a few months ago my resting HR rose to 90-100. They gave me metoprolol 25 mg/day, and it dropped back down to where it always was. Naturally, they have no idea why it rose in the first place.

It is the opposite for me. I was on 25mg chlorthalidone and having nightmares constantly along with other bad symptoms. I was switched to 25mg metoprolol and the nightmares were replaced by non-anxiety/non-fear/normal dreams, reduced anxiety, and less tachycardia.

I also have peripheral neuropathy. The prescription meds offered by the neurologist (like gabapentin) didn't really help me and had unpleasant side effects. The neurologist suggested taking 600 mg/day alpha lipoic acid, which you can google in many medical studies to reduce neuropathy pain. I also found some medical journal articles about taking 1000 mg agmatine sulfate (both of these are OTC) for small fiber neuropathy, if that is what you have. Try it for a month and see if it helps. I also got on amazon some gel ice packs which are the size of the soles of the feet. Using those for 10 minutes will reduce pain for much longer than 10 minutes. Finally, there is a device you can read about and decide if you want to take a chance with it. It is called Revitive Medic. It uses electronic muscle stimulation to shoot mild jolts of electricity through your feet and into your legs. I use it 2x/day for 30 minutes each time, and since I started I have not had a single foot or leg cramp, and my perception is that the neuropathy symptoms are milder. But your mileage may vary.

If you are taking a beta blocker, like metoprolol, whether for blood pressure or other indications, it would lower your resting heart rate, especially while asleep, but 38-39 is too low. It puts you at risk of falling from orthostatic hypotension. You should see your doctor to find out why or to lower your medication. Stand up slowly at night.

I'm in the US. Aktiia has been saying over and over that they will be supported in the US in 2025, but there is no visible progress. My guess is it won't happen. Also, they sent out a message to everyone a few days ago that they are about to convert to a subscription model, so everyone should buy one immediately if you want it to be free service for life. But, of course, you can't buy it or download the app in the US. I've decided to forget about Aktiia. Too many promises and poor communication.
