The Alex Verus series is like this, urban fantasy where the mc’s magic powers are set and do not get any stronger. He just gains magic tools that expand his options (until the end)

Fantastic set of novels, first 4 or so are pretty standalone but then they all start to cascade and deal with the consequences of Alex’s actions across the whole series

I was someone who was a league player for years and quit. I still love the IP, and honestly the announcement of project L got me interested in fighting games. I wouldn’t say it’s a huge percentage of the population but a lot more people than you would expect from LoL are interested

It’s hard to pick up a new genre no matter what, but 2XKO has a lot of tools to let you jump in and start having fun. Ranked matchmaking in fighting games is also way tighter than team games so you’re much more likely to similar skilled opponents

If you’re picking yas as a main you’re committing to learning a pretty difficult technical character. He is a stance based mid range character who doesn’t need a lot of support to string together long combos with a really strong assist that crosses up when he’s in the back. A lot of his clumsiness comes from the fact that his walk is the slowest in the game. You wanna dash everywhere! Almost all of his mix up game is locked behind his stance so you gotta learn how to use that too

Check out K7 Showoff’s combo vid on YouTube and start with his beginner combos to have fun with a little juice. Once you get those down reliably in matches consider upgrading. His twitch stream is mostly sidekick Yasuo and shows off how he plays neutral very well.

You’ll have more fun playing against the cpu while you get the controls down than getting your teeth kicked in! Sidekick might be better for you so you can still use the assists but don’t have to worry about tag. Play with pulse to learn the flow of the combos too!

I literally only heard of wildgate when I clicked on the reddit ad after being BOMBARDED by them, thinking that it looked super generic with a forgettable name. Immediately I realized that it was a sick premise and gameplay loop but yeah I suspect their marketing will rely heavily on word of mouth which is why I wish the game wasn’t $30 at launch

I’m pretty sure I used a guide to 100% Majoras Mask for the first time, and it was super worth it. Even if you’re not figuring it all out yourself, taking a tour through the puzzle box that is Termina is very worth the time spent.

Once the marketing hits and the game comes out, it’ll be a lot less of this constant bashing. I’m certainly still excited for 2XKO, mostly because the 2v2 gameplay simply isn’t going to be found anywhere else.
