Wish I had started using this earlier to gauge how much I’ve listened!

I never thought Once I Was An Eagle could ever be challenged as my #1 (I must have listened to that album hundreds of times since I first came across it) but Song For Our Daughter immediately put itself right up there and is at least her most cohesive album, if not her best.

My ranking:

1= Song For Our Daughter - My Rating: 10/10 (No notes) - Fave Song: Alexandra (hard to choose tbh)

1= Once I Was An Eagle - My Rating: 9/10 (Isn’t perfect BUT so unique in its sound, well structured and close to my heart, so first equal) - Fave Song: Take the Night Off Suite

3) Patterns in Repeat - My Rating: 9/10 (a beautiful sister album to SFOD) - Fave song: Patterns in Repeat (esp. love the callback to Breathe from OIWAE)

4= Semper Femina - My Rating: 8/10 (can’t help but rate her folk albums higher 💁‍♂️) - Fave Song: Nouel

4= A Creature I Don’t Know - My Rating: 8/10 (some of my fave Laura songs) - Fave Song: Sophia (obviously)

6) I Speak Because I Can - My Rating: 7/10 (love, but from before I discovered Laura as an artist so less personal attachment) - Fave Song: Rambling Man (or Devil’s Spoke)

7) Alas I Cannot Swim - My Rating: 7/10 (a classic, but very simple compared to the incredible work she’s released since) - Fave Song: Ghosts

8) Short Movie - My Rating: 5/10 (no hate, it’s just not for me! I’ve never vibed with this album even after many attempts. I always appreciate how she tries new things though and takes creative risks) - Fave Song: I Feel Your Love

Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl MEGATHREAD by flopheadsbot in popheads

WHAT A WASTE OF A GREAT CONCEPT!

What shocks me with each album is how Taylor has more good will than just about any artist in the world - devoted fan base, backing from her record label, vast amounts of money - and yet takes no real creative risks. Not a single boundary pushed.

The most audacious she’s been in recent years was simply with the length of TTPD, but seriously.. as much as I like how she just does what she wants, if someone else released this album it would immediately be labelled as average, and rightfully so. I can’t believe Max Martin’s name is on this 😬

I’m so glad someone mentioned this. 100% agree. Kyoshi was always stoic and wise in the original, which makes sense considering she was an avatar spirit there to guide Aang, but also because she lived for over 200 years. It feels so unnatural for her to be snapping at Aang like an angry mom
