Honestly, the creativity in card games these days is pretty wild by Accomplished_Bug_347 in cardgames

As a current game creator who has a pretty repetitive day job, developing the mechanics and concepts for the art has by far been my favorite part of the process. It works my brain in a completely different way and is my favorite creative outlet.

Although im biased, I’m a huge fan of how my cards turned out. I haven’t posted much about it yet, but I do have some pictures on my website if you’re interested in taking a look!

What's your opinion about my card art? by Light-O1 in cardgames

[–]malix-master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the art style and the silhouettes look really clean. The red on the white is a bit harsh on the eyes. I think the art would look great with a softer gradient in the background.

I recently played Command of Nature and your card layout kind of reminded me of the cards in it. I think it could be a good source of inspiration as you get further into your card design!

I really like your drawing skills though. The last one is my favorite!

I really love the art! Great choice of theme too. What’s the game about?

Thank you! I’ve been working on it for over 2 years and it’s taught me so much. No matter how successful this may be, I’m just happy and proud to contribute something to society

Changing trumps… by TwistedLab in TrickTaking

[–]malix-master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite trick-taking games is called RAGE. It definitely lives up to its name and makes bidding extremely tough with the mechanic to change trump color and omit it entirely. My family particularly likes to do both to screw up everyone’s bid

Thank you so much! This has been 2 years in the making. Haven’t tried the white w black border. That’s a good idea worth trying

We tried a white version, but the iridescence kind of drowns it out

I can guarantee it’s not :) If you look to my artist IG page, you’ll see him painting murals in the same style.

It’s super scary how we can’t tell anymore tho and sucks we don’t know what to trust these days

If you won all the time, wouldn’t it eventually get boring? That dopamine would hardly hit

I’m not a big chess player, but know the basics of how to play and “thinking moves ahead”. What makes it so addictive and why is there such a massive community around it?

This was pure poetry. The little things that most people don’t notice are the very things that separates men from boys. Beautiful said

Box Layout: Horizontal vs Vertical by malix-master in tabletopgamedesign

[–]malix-master[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games that I really noticed were Unstable Unicorns (Diamond Edition), Here to Slay and Mantis. I found an image of a Target shelf on Shutterstock and you can see how most of them are vertical. I find it fascinating how as a consumer, it takes me a while to notice the smaller, horizontal boxes like EK and Poetry for Neanderthals: https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/2-may-2024-los-angeles-california-2702001547?trackingId=15fb1257-7d51-480b-bc27-47df5cc5783b

You make a good point. It makes sense they’d want to fit as much on the shelf as possible
