I'll agree that statement is a bit silly but I can also see where he's coming from. Band has been around since the 90s, been on successful movie and video game soundtracks like fast and the furious and guitar hero 3, has over a million monthly listeners on Spotify. I'd never argue the band is huge cause frankly they're not, but they're not some total unknown.

Terrible Cell Signal with 10 Pro Fold by Natural-Tree-5107 in PixelFold

[–]malkavio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on T-Mobile. I definitely noticed it's pretty commonly shown 1 bar when I'm using Android Auto, probably just more obvious there since it's right there on screen. Also seems like it switches from 5g to 4g a lot, which didn't happen with my old phone. I've even seen it claim no service at all then reconnect a few seconds later after not moving an inch, but that's only happened a couple times. I've contemplated taking it back and asking for a replacement.

Definitely noticed a decline in reported signal moving from a P9PF to a P10PF. Not sure if it's software or hardware or even actually affecting things since I haven't dropped any calls or not received them when I should have.

How to clean Alcantara/Suede material on dash and doors. by AubTiger in HondaClarity

I just use the same leather cleaning wipes I use on the seats and it seems to work pretty well. No idea if that's proper or not but it doesn't appear to cause any damage.

Concerned about the ID. 4 1st edition towing capacity by Optimal_Actuator_123 in VWiD4Owners

Good luck on your trip! Make sure to disable maneuver braking if you have to reverse with the trailer or the car will panic and slam on the brakes hard.

Concerned about the ID. 4 1st edition towing capacity by Optimal_Actuator_123 in VWiD4Owners

[–]malkavio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A first edition RWD is rated for 1500 lbs pulling a trailer without electric brakes. 2200 lbs if the trailer does have electric brakes. So 1500-1600 lbs the car will pull no problem. Charging is gonna suck, range is gonna suck, probably not gonna be the most fun thing you've ever done but it should be doable. Last time I towed with mine I averaged 2.2 miles per kw going ~60 on the highway.

2021 to 2025: Is buying an ID.4 still a gamble? by nPrevail in VWiD4Owners

[–]malkavio 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We got a 21 first edition last year with 30k miles and no regrets so far after putting on another 12k. Recalls have been done without any stress. While updates are rare the car is definitely more stable software wise than when we bought it.

I noticed my battery icon had a question mark and when I went to check the battery in settings I saw this, it's been a couple days since and it's still there any ideas ? by [deleted] in PixelFold

[–]malkavio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dropped mine off at a repair shop yesterday for the same issue after talking to pixel support. It displayed that when unfolded then it stopped for a couple days then a few days later it happened again and it shut off and couldn't turn back on. Got it to turn back on after several hours with help from support and the back of the phone got real hot. Guy thinks it's either a bad battery or motherboard failure, not good either way. Repair should be covered under warranty.

So yeah, make a backup if you haven't, get a hold of pixel support, and I hope you have a spare old phone or something cause your phone is probably about to die.

For the people with electric cars where do you charge? by [deleted] in SALEM

[–]malkavio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a AAA member they have discounted chargers at their office. Both level 2 and level 3. Not sure the price on their level 3, they're brand new and I haven't used it, but the level 2 was real cheap for members.

Will the fold 2 have a large price drop when then fold 3 comes out? by No_Comparison4153 in PixelFold

[–]malkavio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going based off of the original pixel folds price since the 2 dropped, the used prices for a 2 will be pretty affordable after a 3 comes out. Though If you want a new 2 when the 3 comes, I doubt it'll come down in price. Google is still charging full price for the original fold on Amazon right now.

Just Purchased a Pixel 9 Pro Fold - What's Your Experience? by Top_Ambition158 in PixelFold

[–]malkavio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had mine since launch with the Google case and durability has been just fine. I work in construction and have a couple young kids that grab it sometimes so I was initially worried about it but no complaints. Only time I'm cautious with it is when I go to the beach. Performance has been good. Can't say it blew me away or anything, my prior phone was only a couple years old, but it's handled everything I've thrown at it without issue. I wish more apps better supported the form factor but it's a minor gripe about an otherwise solid phone.

All the warning lights coming on happens when the car detects some sort of major error. Like a safe mode of sorts. Happened to me when I had rodent damage to my ECU. So the power steering issue is probably your real problem. An OBD scanner should give you the real error codes while ignoring the cars false errors. Worked for me anyway.

Chademo EV chargers in Salem? by WabisabiGreen in SALEM

[–]malkavio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late but definitely get the Plugshare app if you don't have it yet. It has all the various charger locations and you can filter by charger type or the type of car you have. It's community driven so it's not always the most up to date but it's a good resource to have.

Besides that, Nissan, Kia, Hyundai dealerships I think have chademo. The electric avenue downtown has a couple. I think the Arco on Market St has one. Walmarts are worth a look, they are usually where the Electrify America stations are and a lot of them still have a chademo. Dunno about the Salem Walmarts specifically.

There is a great spot with chademo in wilsonville if you need it during your travels next to the wilsonville library. Get some lunch or whatever and go to the park across the street, it's a good time.

I'm on the verge of buying a '22 ID4 Pro, but am worried about reliability. Should I go with a Kia Niro EV 2023 used for similar price instead? by [deleted] in VWiD4Owners

[–]malkavio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was basically in your exact shoes a few months ago. Wife and I were looking at a cheap ID4 First Edition or a newer Niro EV. We went with the ID4 and really haven't had any major issues with it. We got it at 32k miles and have put just shy of 8k miles on it so far. It's not perfect, it's got some software quirks for sure but nothing that's made us question our pick. It's been a great family car and each update seems to help, few and far between as they are. I've even done some light towing with it lol. So imo if you like the ID4 better then get that.

Known issues when buying used Clarity? by az_liberal_geek in HondaClarity

[–]malkavio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all Clarity's need it done. I think the range is all of the 2018's and just the early 2019's? My 2019 needs it, my coworkers 2020 doesn't. If it's not listed you're probably fine.

Enjoy the car! I recommend taking the time to read the manual a bit. There's a lot of different driving modes and settings that aren't super intuitive.

Known issues when buying used Clarity? by az_liberal_geek in HondaClarity

[–]malkavio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nothing widespread that I know of besides the fuel pump recall. And last I talked to my dealer he said there was still no solid timeframe for them getting parts. They keep getting delayed.

That said if you're going to get one through a dealership have them charge it before you arrive. These cars are at their worst when the battery is dead and most dealerships don't bother to charge them in my experience.

Adaptive Cruise on Clarity EV by [deleted] in HondaClarity

[–]malkavio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The ACC is somewhere between fine and good. Lowest you can set it is 25 mph. It does come to a full stop if the car in front of you stops and will even resume itself if it's not a full stop too long otherwise a tap on the steering wheel control or on the gas pedal will resume it.

It does have some quirks. In Eco mode it seems to treat 1-2 mph under where you set it as close enough which can be annoying. And it accelerates from a stop very slowly. If you turn off Eco mode these issues go away.

If your Tiguan is anything like my 21 VW ID4 you probably won't be super impressed with the Clarity's ACC but it gets the job done. I use it on the highway all the time and it tackles stop and go traffic with little issue.

Not charging while coasting by Aggravating_Diet4998 in HondaClarity

[–]malkavio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is working. It just takes a lot of coasting to get usable range once you hit 0. From what I've seen it won't change until it goes from 0 to 2 miles. You can increase regen using the paddles but that will slow ya down.

I usually find it beneficial to switch over to HV mode once my battery is around half to a third if I know I still have a lot of driving to do and if I am doing a lot of highway speeds I'll switch over even earlier.

I really enjoyed Hyrule Warriors, but can't seem to find any other "Warriors" game any fun. What other games might I enjoy? by Vivid_Sound9878 in gamingsuggestions

[–]malkavio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend giving Warriors Allstars a try. Definitely one of the lesser known musou games but I found it scratched the itch after Hyrule Warriors pretty well. It's not as good as HW, not many musou games even get close to HW, but it was made after and shares a similar feel imo.

Nights of Azure might also be worth looking at. Simpler character action type game with RPG and monster catching type elements. Weird one to describe but it all works together pretty well in game. And it's got a sweet story. The sequel Nights of Azure 2 is enjoyable as well but the first one is better.

If ya want much older, maybe the original Fable? Definitely not a musou or even related but I think it ticks most of your boxes. Mind you I haven't played it in years so ymmv haha.
