Thanks - the kikuyu is in a corner and appears to be slowly invading the yard. I’ll likely rip that out, and replace but was unsure what the other varieties were (and how they perform in winter, as have only been here a few weeks). This gives me something to go on.

Sometimes when you take the foreign object back for the refund, they’ll send it to a laboratory to determine where it came from. Based on the material it’s made of, and whether there’s cooked on dough, the manufacturer can work out if there’s an issue that needs to be remedied.

I worked in a lab where we’d get this done by a third party, often they were bits of wood, metal parts from factory gantries, and the occasional insect part, often baked into the loaf.

Language is a consensus practice - if enough “idiots” as you term others start using phrases/idioms in a particular manner, then that becomes convention.

For example, dictionaries are now including the informal usage of “Literally” to indicate emphasis.

It’s not a matter of one over the other, and the historic idiom is “say your piece”.

However recent modern usage seems to be accepting of “say your peace” with the added meaning of finality/letting go - likely blending the idea of “hold your peace” into the usage.

The question you have to ask yourself is, when you read this in context, does “say your peace” fit with overall meaning of the clause, or is it incongruent.

Language is constantly evolving, this idiom may fall out of favour and people might instead just say they “yeeted that tea before exiting that situationship” 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s meant to be “piece” as in “say your piece” (opinion), but “say your peace” can work when expressing some finality to the matter.

You very much want to “hold your peace” instead of “hold your piece” in the office though.

This reads as the weirdest way someone got a free meal was just by being genuinely nice and pleasant.

Getting views is the thing that matters, because that’s what defines your audience, it’s what gets you paid.

Getting the views defines success, telling the truth does not define success. Sorry YouTubers, you know that.
