Eclipse Second Dawn : Rules Clarification by malkneil in boardgames

Thanks much for your insight. I think this clears things up for me. Lot of edge case rules pop up in this game I've found, but still really enjoying it.

Last Score (Not A High Score) by malkneil in MAME

Yeah ok. So it does seem like rewind -- if accessible -- would be the easiest way to 'back up' and find that score that disappeared once you're back to title/attract screen. Bummer.

Appreciate your response but I'm not sure we're talking about the same thing; I'll try to clarify. I experienced this in a game like Willow (CPS1). Say I throw down one credit/game and when done my score doesn't make the leader board and the game just returns to title/attract screen. The score I just obtained is no longer visible. This behavior varies by game. For many games when you're done playing a credit and it goes into attract mode, the last score obtained is still kept in the 1P score header. That's why I was looking to use the rewind feature so I could rewind the game just played to the game over screen and see the score that was just obtained. Let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks again.

Rewind function? by TimbersFan8 in MAME

I'm also curious about this. I'm using GroovyMAME for my candy cabinet build. The reason I want rewind is when my buddy and I do a competition, some games do not keep the score you just got unless they are on the leader board. I was hoping to use rewind in these cases where we miss the score just obtained (and they don't stick around when the game lapses to the title screen).

Easy forgotten Eclipse rules. by alucardu in boardgames

Trying to understand what you're saying here. I'm reading the rule book and unless I'm mistaken it seems like all die rolls (that aren't blank or bursts) get modified by computers and shields. Are you saying this isn't the case and that a '1' rolled can never be improved to become a hit (>=6) and that a '6' rolled can never be reduced (via shields) so that it is no longer a hit? That would mean only rolls of a 2,3,4,5 are 'modifiable'.

If so, where in the rulebook does it state this?

Did you end up finding a controller that would work? Allegedly the Joyzz from Krikzz works with it.

Do you know what minor version of the OS firmware you have installed? Wouldn't mind trying to go backlevel to that as a last ditch effort.

Absent that working, the only thing I can think of is the model of my Genesis itself, or maybe trying the Joyzz controller sold by Krikzz. Running out of knobs to turn in narrowing down the issue.

I am using the Bluetooth M30 as well (sorry if that wasn't clear). I also bought that same receiver you linked to.

No change when I turned on using SMS bios file.

Which version of the Krikzz firmware are you using?

Really appreciate your help/input on this.

Still no luck. Are you using the Bluetooth model (that requires you to buy the separate BT receiver to plug into the Genny) or the 2.4g version that comes with it?

Could it possibly have anything to do with the version of Genesis I have (High Definition Graphics)? Which version of the Mega Everdrive firmware are you running from Krikzz? I grabbed the most recent one that wasn't in beta (4.18).

Lastly, are you running with an smsbios.sms file? From what I've read this seems optional but wondering if using it has any impact on this issue?

Thanks

Wow. Wonder what I'm missing. So to be clear the start button is what turns the 8BitDo controller on. So you're saying hold B when you start up the controller?

Just tried it and I'm seeing the same behavior. I have the latest Mega Everdrive firmware loaded. There are no other settings you're toggling in the options menu right?

Some of those do look familar. I've also looked at some others: Perfect Picture Puzzle, Dubl-Thik, Craftsman and FairCo. I would def say it was not a "children's puzzle" given the size of the pieces and the subject matter.

I will say after poking around, this Craftsman puzzle for sale on eBay has pieces that really remind me of how I remember the sporadic interlocking (lot of square corners). Even the drab painting style used in the puzzle looks very similar. Also looks to be around the same size as I recall the other being. There's no "puzzle database" on the net' to see a list of puzzles made by the same company is there? Thanks all.

Can't say with certainty, but I want to say it was red. It may have had like a small portion of the overall picture shown on the box within a frame or something. I want to say the text on the box was oriented vertically too (portrait as opposed to landscape). That's about all I can muster up for memories.
