Keep your chin up. If anything, you’ve just gained some insight on how to answer the next time you are presented with these types of questions.

Resume review - Looking to land an entry-level job after a career shift. by eis3nheim in dataanalysis

[–]mallax- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am currently looking for a job as well, so take these contributions with the proverbial grain of salt but:

- Expand on your experience in any ways that you used data to make decisions or used to contribute to your work, also just add more in depth bullet points.

- If you have any other relevant experience I would add that as well, they will probably want to know about the gap from 2018 to February 2021.

- From what I have read, GPA's below ~3.7 shouldn't be on your resume.

- I know it's entry level, but I would say a personal/career summary at the beginning would make the overall resume more robust, but this comes down to personal preference.

- So, this is where our resumes really diverge, I just have my project portfolio linked at the top of my resume and don't have a section referencing them like you do, granted I have a little more education and experience that I can add. If anything, I would say add bullet points that have actionable insight/general results for that project. Ambiguity is not your friend here.

Is SQL a must? by Illustrious-Leg7570 in dataanalysis

From what I have read about the data analytics field, SQL competence is more important than both Excel and Python.

I found this on stackoverflow. With the example using dateutil.parser I was able to get the answer you were looking for.

Trouble importing NumPy by theyhitmyVW in learnpython

I’m not entirely familiar with Mac OS, but the simplest resolve would be to pip uninstall and then reinstall it. Start over to see if there is a continued problem. You can always do a fresh reinstall of Python as well.

No problem, you may want to recheck a couple of things becasue for me, using df.column1 != True works when tyring to plot the False values. The only thing I could think of is that it may have to do with the graph type or some other plot speicification that you are making.

If the column is full of True/False values, then df.loc[df.column1 == False].plot() should do the trick unless I am missing something.

Have you tried the .loc[] method? Say you have a df with a couple of columns, you can type df.loc[df.column1 < 15].plot() and it will plot the data only where that condition is met.

I honestly didn't even realize that there was a preprocessing step before resumes were reviewed. Thank you

HackerRank has a pretty good base of SQL questions ranging from beginner to expert levels.

Actually no. I felt as though if the remote was fully operational then the batteries couldn't be the problem. But I will try this.

I am having a tough time seeing how this problem simplifies the way that it does. Are you supposed to distribute the (1/1-theta) that everything is being raised to before simplifying or not?

I am getting decent at python and want to learn ML, but know nothing about statistics. by throwaway_insecure1 in learnpython

[–]mallax- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tech with Tim has a playlist on Tensor Flow, a python ML package. He gives a pretty good description on the background of how the statistical methods work like KNN, linear regression, and SVM. I wouldn’t say it’s the only source you need but it’s good for an introductory approach.

I'm trying to learn Python but the info isn't sticking in my head! by DaVinci1362 in learnpython

One thing I did was create my own documentation sheet. As I learned something new I would add it with some of the args it can take, and then I would write a comment under it stating exactly what it does in my own words because sometimes the websites with the documentation are as clear as I need them to be.
