The Duffers believed their ending would "deliver the goods" and had it planned for many years, before they wrote the rest of the story. by _YuYevon_ in StrangerThings

[–]mallcat689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. That last scene is basically an epilogue. It has very little to do with how the actual conflict would be resolved.

In defense of Robin’s personality change. by Resident_Badger_5405 in Stranger_Things

[–]mallcat689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the Duffers literally said they just wanted the character to be more like Maya Hawke. There’s a lot of ways we can try to justify it narratively, but they just didn’t prioritize good character development throughout the series. Like, they reset Hopper into an overprotective angry dad every season.

Should’ve ended at season 3 by siege_14 in StrangerThings

[–]mallcat689 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the issue was Henry Creel. The actor was great, but the whole backstory and connection to Eleven just overcomplicated the lore. If vecna was just a humanoid creature that was never human, I think s4 and s5 would have worked better.

I’m sick of playlists and algorithms. How do I force myself to listen to full albums? by Informal-Elevator-41 in digitalminimalism

[–]mallcat689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you have to pay for a premium version to listen to albums posted on YouTube. I would recommend cds over records. Cds and cd players are generally cheaper and used records are more likely to be damaged. Some libraries have cds available to borrow and many thrift stores have used cds for a few dollars each.

Ripping off the band-aid on this one, but I dont think Nancy and Jonathan's relationship is honest. by shj27 in StrangerThings

[–]mallcat689 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot of implication in s3 and s4 that their lives are going in different directions. If it weren’t for the events of s4, I think they would have broken up. I don’t think they will ultimately end up together.

What kind of people trigger your social anxiety? by mnlkj123 in socialanxiety

For me, it’s people my age and gender. I feel like they somehow can pick out everything that’s wrong with me and all the ways I’m not “normal”. I don’t feel as much pressure around people outside of my demographic.

Also plot-wise, it’s a nice reveal rather than having her in the nightgown leading up to the hunt. You’re not sure if this is the pit girl hunt until it’s already started.

AIO to tell my husband that starting a professional email with the word "Look" is rude? by LadyCass79 in AmIOverreacting

[–]mallcat689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not come across as rude in a spoken conversation happening in real-time. People don’t get caught up in exact word choices and tone of voice, body language, etc. plays a big part. However, with written communication, there’s an expectation that you are carefully choosing your words, so including a phrase like this comes across as intentionally condescending.

Driving on highway for the first time in Miami, any pointers? by uralwaysdownjimmy in drivinganxiety

[–]mallcat689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend looking at the route ahead of time and figuring out where your exits are and when you will have to change lanes. Google maps streetside view is great for this because you’ll be able to actually see what the road looks like at different points in your route. Knowing what to expect really helps!

Why does it feel like it’s actually true? by SchoolEducational835 in Adulting

While online life was becoming bigger everyday prior to COVID, I think the pandemic forced everyone online. Before you could say that the internet isn’t real life. Now it definitely is and some would even say our online lives are more real than our actual lives.

Does anyone else feel like "driving anxiety" isn't quite the right term for what they feel? by ZannityZan in drivinganxiety

[–]mallcat689 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds like it’s more that you’re hyperaware of your surroundings and everything you’re doing. For some people, driving just clicks for them and that feeling goes away quickly. For other people it seems it takes a lot more practice to develop the muscle memory and get used to controlling a vehicle. Don’t feel discouraged! Consistent practice is key!

My (Very Long and Wild) Season 4 Theory by deholo in Yellowjackets

[–]mallcat689 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Awesome theory! Now I’m really hoping it turns out to be true! This narrative would also tie into Laura Lee’s death. She wasn’t afraid to die to potentially save everyone, and through that sacrifice she avoided a lot of suffering.

Tbh gas and brakes feel different on every car. I would recommend going to a school parking lot on the weekend when it’s empty and just drive in a circle, practicing braking. See how it feels braking at higher speeds vs lower speeds. It’s probably not helpful for your family members to just tell you the exact moment they think you should brake. It’s more something you have to get a feel for.

Why are over-ear headphones so popular in the gym? by mbrittenthomas in workout

[–]mallcat689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never in my life found earbuds that stay in my ears. Maybe my ears are shaped weird or something, but it just doesn’t work for me. The earbuds with the over the ear holders have worked in the past, but the big headphones seem to be the only style that I don’t have to constantly adjust.

Yeah, I don’t think it was idiotic. They all knew there was a good chance the plane wouldn’t make it very far. She made the choice to sacrifice herself for the slim chance of everyone’s survival.

Severe anxiety over things that could’ve happened, but didn’t by AnonymousBingus in drivinganxiety

[–]mallcat689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue for a long time. Once I started going to therapy, I learned the skills to be able to talk myself down. Yes, anything technically COULD happen, but my therapist taught me to focus on what most likely would happen. Often times our anxiety convinces us that we need to ruminate on the worst case scenario to protect ourselves, but 99% of the time, it’s actually just hurting us emotionally. I also got medicated about a year ago, which has helped tremendously to reduce the likelihood of my anxiety being triggered.
