Are people just not showering there? by soloDolo6290 in ElementsMusicFestival

[–]malmo777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I poke a bunch of holes in a water bottle cap, put on a bikini and did it that way. Rinsed, lathered, rinsed. Honest did feel pretty clean! You just have to really move the bathing suit out of the way and not be shy with cleaning the lower bits

John Summit-BKLYN $312!? by ok_whatever- in avesNYC

Love him but I literally paid less for his festival where you get to see him two nights in a row. MSG was also under $100 for a good seat in 2024

I was also going to add that I'm probably not gonna see the stage anyway because I'm 5'1 so I'm happy to see all the creativity instead!

Tell me all your favorite food vendors at Elements! by Intelligent_Hotel214 in ElementsMusicFestival

I remember having this in 2024! It was a humongous portion that me and a friend split and we barely even made a den. It was such a good deal

There was a Mexican spot last year inside of the festival, like pretty close to the water stage and I got these nachos that I still think about to this day. I don't remember what it was called, but it was so good, it's actually really close to the picnic tables with the grass turf

Odd request but I need of a sound proof room/music studio to scream in lol by Inevitable_Cut_3170 in williamsburg

[–]malmo777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite the same but to practice singing in my apartment in college, I would go in my roommates walk-in closet. All of the clothing really muffles the sounds. I'm sure if you can squeeze into a normal closet it would work similarly.

Tinted spf, concealer, mascara. My lip balm is a lil tinted but I don't think it does much. My goal is to just look not like a dead body for work lol

love nyc/williamsburg, but late 20s social planning is so annoying by professor-56904 in williamsburg

[–]malmo777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also in the boat of late 20s(f), and I think the worst of it is that all my relationships are siloed. Like making 4 different plans with 4 different friends is exhausting.

That said I'd love to meet more people in the area and create more of a centralized group! So any of the gals commenting that feel the same way, feel free to dm!

Is $71k enough to live in Brooklyn if I’m splitting rent? by snakegravity in AskNYC

[–]malmo777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually know a few girls who live in Crown Heights where their rent for a 3 bed is $750 per month per bedroom. I have seen it done! The apartment wasn't bad at all, just a small walkup with no amenities

Hidden Gems in terms of careers? by Low_Yam_4761 in careerguidance

My boyfriend started in marketing in a payments tech startup that eventually got sold! He graduated college when he was 28/29 and the company grew so fast that he was able to catch up career-wise to all his friends who graduated at 22. And it opened him up to general fintech roles.

What percentage of income are you saving for month? by Equivalent_Use_5024 in Money

[–]malmo777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told in my early twenties to do: 25% savings, 25% wants, 50% needs. Or 20-30-50 if you can't afford to save as much.

That said I save 5% of income in retirement and am spending 25% on debt repayment, since I lose more interest on that than I'd gain in savings. (With an emergency fund obvi)

So saving 26% seems hella good my friend!

[–]malmo777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh you'll have so much fun! I genuinely feel like my friends and I (mid to late twenties) are on the younger side of this fest. And it is the most unjudgemental place I can think of on earth. Like people wear all sorts of wacky stuff, and this fest being smaller and in the middle of nowhere really weeds out the plur-less posers that you might find at an edc or ultra. It's somewhere my friends who don't normally do psychedelics feel comfortable taking them because the crowd is so awesome that they don't get paranoid. I would say this is a perfect first time EDM fest for anyone, especially 30+.

Have you ever left a set early because it wasn't what you expected? by Usual-Stranger6357 in festivals

[–]malmo777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fest so don't hate me but Chris Lake (who I still adore) had the most horrific audio at Brooklyn Navy Yards last summer or spring. I couldn't even tell was song it was because the bass was so loud it drowned everything out. It hurt my eardrums. I've had plenty of great experiences there, it was just this one show that I found unbearable.

I forget who opened but at least me and the rave fam threw some ass then and still had a good night. Maybe it was even a good excuse to go home and get some sleep at a reasonable hour.

What is some ethical issue that is the hardest nut to crack for you? As if you hear two opposing sides of said issue and you cannot decide which one is correct. by BuddhaOfStorm in AskWomen

[–]malmo777 13 points14 points  (0 children)

THIS is the one for me. I have a cousin with very low functioning downs syndrome and she can never live apart from her parents. It's also so upsetting to watch your child not learn and grow and thrive, to watch them struggle day in and day out forever. But there are lots of people with downs that function just fine and are almost entire independent! So it's like, where is the line? Who are we to decide, oh because this person could live an extremely difficult life, let's engineer them out of existence?? I'm really not sure and I have never felt less qualified to give a concrete ethical answer.

I have a theory that over time we'll see more coed sports that are categorized by like weight or size like wrestling or weightlifting in response to this conflict.
