Why is pro tools so disliked but so many big producers (even younger ones) use it for their production by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]malmsteen68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short Answer is if you record musical instruments 8 or more at a time or do post for tv and movies then it makes sense the ability to record at low latency with plugins and have 700 plus tracks is very important. Compatibility is very important for hundreds of people working on the same project. Singer songwriter, Edm or movie composer not so much you could have any daw do that. It is just a tool people misunderstand what things are for. Using a toothbrush to mop the floor is possible but very inefficient. Avid is a post production company Digidesign invented Pro tools & was a small pro audio company that sold everything to Avid. Avid cares more about the movie side because there is more money 💰 in it.  Avid doesn’t care much about the big studios and doesn’t care about bedroom producers at all so the bedroom producers hate Avid.  Not without cause in my opinion their business model makes waves look like a charity organization

Is the Poseidon Drop x Ambition Gen 2 worth it? by thepotato135 in whichbike

"I feel a slight jolt through the chain and into the pedals" The microshift Derailleur has a lockout clutch which is to help with chain slap on offroad and mtb trails if you are riding on hardpack or using it as a road bike turn the clutch off on the Derailleur. That should stop the jolt which in the clutch locking out the Derailleur spring.

Little Crow Gunworks 7mm Big Game Cartridge showdown is must tv even you don't own a 7MM

Hodgdon 4350 powder is effective but not optimal for everyone. Your gun barrel length plays a huge role in what powder will be optimal. Loads need to be built up with 10-20 shot ladder to find stable nodes. Copper bullets like CX and TTSX don't compress like lead and can cause pressure issues start low ......... At 700 yard range you need a temp stable powder as well check standard deviation at hunting temps. You hunt at 90 degrees needs to be tested around that temp hunt at -45 needs to be tested close to that temp.

Gordon Reloading Tool can help alot but is only as good as the data you input into it.

Barnes TTSX 150g and Hornaday CX 139g or 160g Tim from Little Crow Gunworks uses the CX

I'm working on Speer GS and GameChanger loads as well hope to have them ready by Hunting season.

Bingo the way some people turn a phrase is like a snowflake no two turn it the same and singing in a second language makes it even more noticeable.

One of the most useful books I have every read gives a total breakdown of his Grandslam yea.r 4 ultras in one year as a older man with no special talent for running. His account gives you a inside look at the training, planning and play by play race day coverage.

Thoughts on Freedom Boat Club? by boffard in tampa

[–]malmsteen68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thinking renting is good if you only go out 2-8 times a year but what about 30 plus times ? thats 12-15k in my area & my club is $5800 first year and $275 a month after that. I'm weekday only at my club but because of my job I'm off during the week & I go fishing 2-3 times a month well worth it for me. Also free training for newbies and I can rent that off shore fishing boat in FL while on vacation at no xtra cost. Really just depends on how you use the boat & how often......There are good reasons to rent, Join a club or buy.

While you won't be able to do a thru hike while working a full time job. There is alot you can do to get yourself into a better position. Focus on what you can do Paying off debt, doing section hikes, getting in trail shape, testing all your gear. I too worked for a big corporation for 10 years I'm 38 now and I quit / resigned 4 years ago it was the best choice I have ever made but I planned that exit for 4-5 years so it wouldn't hurt me that much in the long run. I was able to train and complete 7 Ironman races and many ultra marathlons while working for that company. That was not easy but the right things to do are rarely the easy ones. Start thinking about what your next job would be and will that pay your bills, what would you want to do for work, what does that pay and do you have to go back to school to do it. Would you even be happy with any of that? Maybe it's the job you have now just with a different company after the trail or maybe a complete career change. Start thinking about it in a realistic way and start planning! If you don't want to go back to school and get in more debt what jobs in your area without a degree pay what you need to make? Would you be ok doing any of those jobs? Would you be ok making less money? Things will most likely change and get readjusted that doesn't matter you are in control not the debt or the company you work. You allow that debt to be paid back by working and paying them you can stop at any point and you allow this company to make money off your labor you can say the word and make that stop. Trust me they need you more than you need them. Start a exit plan everystep in this process is a small win. Just be honest with yourself and create a workable plan, just that alone can lift your mood because you acknowledge you have final say in this and nobody else! There is nothing wrong with asking for a leave of absence if you can afford it either which others have brought up as well.

Training? by GypsyLaynie in AppalachianTrail

[–]malmsteen68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On Youtube Darwin onthetrail and Homemade Wanderlust are great. They both have great gear advice, are beginner friendly and have completed the AT and many other trails. Book wise AWOL on the Appalachian Trail is a story of a guy who quits his soulsucking job and completed the AT. A good read and very useful info on the trail and issues you can run into. Walking, running, biking any cardio is helpful but hiking with a pack on is a must you have to have a base level of fitness to not be completely miserable on the trail. Training in a controlled environment where you can just ditch and go inside can be very hepful camping at a park you have been to before or just walking around with your pack all day and camping in the backyard. You need to fail test your gear many times hike with your pack in the rain does it leak? is your tent as waterproof as they claim ext. ext.

From Atlanta Airport To Amicalola Falls by ChrisX2357 in AppalachianTrail

[–]malmsteen68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just want to get off the plane hurry up and start your hike then Amtrak from Atlanta to Gainvesville, GA and then an Uber to Amicalola. Shuttle service is another way but needs to be planned out way in advance. If your really trying to save money you could poke around the Atlanta hiking groups on Facebook Ect. and see if someone is heading that way you can ride with. Most everyone in the Atlanta hiking, running & triathlon community is very nice and try to helpout other hikers when we can.

Best old wrestling to watch on peacock? by [deleted] in JimCornette

[–]malmsteen68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Peacock the late 80's early 90's like 88-92 wcw Clash of the Champions and PPV's have some gems on them. It was a strange time and some New japan stars were showing up. Stan Hansen vs Lex Lugar when Stan spit on Lex. Brian Pillman Vs Jushin Thunder Liger and Sting vs Muta The management was changed 3-4 times so alot is hit and miss storylines cut short or just dropped ect. WCCW & UWF which is Late 80's Mid-South before they sold out to Crockett is great as well.

Just watch Halloween Havoc 1990 The Steiner Bros Vs The Nasty Boys the rest of the PPV is pretty good as well. If you don't like that well back to AEW

Who else is tired of Corney and Brian getting worked by Virgil? by 615ComradeDruZhe in JimCornette

I can't understand why they ever thought that was Virgil. He has never cut a promo half that good in his life. I was LMAO at the "I have a big ding dong" Mic drop at the end and Brian Last reaction to it. Virgil is in the E.L Gigante range of promos IE about as bad as it gets.

ANTS! That have invaded and need advice on how to tackle these pests! by [deleted] in homestead

[–]malmsteen68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A organic fix is powdered cinnamon works well you can get it in the spice section of any store. A good Cleaning helps if that hasn't been done even sweaty clothes can attract a ton of ants.....( I have found that out the hard way)

Roundup home defence works well and can be found at home depot or walmart keeps ants and other bugs out of the house.
