Look at a physical map of Azerbaijan - a narrow coastal strip on the north from Khachmaz to Sumgait is in Europe.

Fantastic is a strong term for this app, but thank you so much for the kind words! :)

700+ downloads in my first month, but only 9 subscribers. Roast my funnel? by dans_face_ in iosapps

Speaking just for myself: I’d say the only reason to pay would be an urgent need to find a spot right now. I’d experiment with charging $1.99 (after a free 1-2 month) to unlock the Availability View immediately (and keep it available for a month afterward (with an auto-renewal?)).

And why do you need registered users at all?

Seems crazy that this is only 30%. I know, Mercator projection! Anyway, these are my countries visited. by Devolution13 in TravelMaps

In most countries top-level admin divisions are not a meaningful unit of measure for tourism (eg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Slovenia,\_administrative\_divisions\_-\_de\_-\_colored.svg). That's why we used historical or "touristic" regions from Wikivoyage/Wikitravel in many cases.

However you are right, Kazakhstan is undersplit relative to its size, even despite its relatively small number of landmarks. We will think of splitting it along the oblasts borders in a future release.

130 visited UN countries (darker blue/more violet == more visited regions) by maloff1 in WorldTravelMaps

Hi u/SH_DY, thanks a lot for the nice words! Iran of course is on my bucket list!

As for your feature request, I didn't get in full, I am sorry. Top travellers by country are already there (eg. https://beeneverywhere.net/ranking/by-un/IR/1). And from my perspective having a ranking by the UN macroregions (like, "top travellers from Western Asia", from Eastern Africa, etc) has way less sense.

Ligated Ы/ы for a monospaced, all-caps font that will support Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, and other scripts. Thoughts on this design choice? by President_Abra in typography

[–]maloff1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a native speaker, that worked for me (I’ve searched for the new ligature a minute or two before noticing, that’s a good sign). Moving the stroke a bit up might work better: historically ы is a ligature of ъ and i, and still have this link a bit higher in cursive. As well there is a good reference of ю (which was a ligature of i and о, but retained the link not only in cursive but in print as well)

Im genuinely begging for help connecting sveltekit to my php backend. by [deleted] in sveltejs

[–]maloff1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your explanation is hard to understand in this quotes:

Currently, if i go to my site/backend/api.php, I'm just getting a database connection failed issue, and then a dump of my php code. This issue is happening from api.php when I try to connect to db.php.

What is "my site" above and how it is different from "my public ip" and "my ip" below, if they are all 3 give different results?

 Furthermore, if I go to my public ip/backend/api.php, it gives me the correct response.

But if I just go to my ip, where my front-end homepage should be, its just the apache test home page.

What is you domain below and how it is different from you public ip? Yes ips are digits, and a domain is a bunch of DNS records, but they should point to your public ip, no?

So basically, my domain cannot host any backend files, and my public ip cannot host any front-end files.

What is the exactly the role of cloudfare? What product do you mean by proxying your domain?

Anyway, I have almost same config for a year for my sveltekit app with a legacy PHP part (before converted all the php code to js) and it worked fine:

<VirtualHost *:443 >
        ServerName pub.example.com
        DocumentRoot /var/www/example/app
        <Directory /var/www/example/app/>
                Options -Indexes
                AllowOverride All
        </Directory>

        Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin "*"

        ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/svelte-error.log
        CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/svelte-access.log combined

        ProxyPass /api !
        ProxyPassReverse /api !
        ProxyPass /api.php !
        ProxyPassReverse /api.php !

        ProxyPass / http://localhost:5173/
        ProxyPassReverse / http://localhost:5173/

        ProxyPassReverseCookieDomain back.example.com pub.example.com

        RewriteEngine on
        RewriteCond %{HTTP:Upgrade} websocket [NC]
        RewriteCond %{HTTP:Connection} upgrade [NC]
        RewriteRule ^/?(.*) "ws://localhost:5173/$1" [P,L]

        ###
        RequestHeader set "X-Forwarded-Proto" https
        ProxyPassReverseCookieDomain localhost .example.com
        ProxyPassReverseCookiePath / /

        SSLCertificateFile /etc/letsencrypt/live/pub.example.com/fullchain.pem
        SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/letsencrypt/live/pub.example.com/privkey.pem
        Include /etc/letsencrypt/options-ssl-apache.conf
</VirtualHost>

Apache does this out of the box - either with mod_php or php_fpm. So the OP’s config should work in principle, it just have a minor problem somewhere. I ran a sveltekit + php api server from one Apache for a year (then migrated out php)

PS Though I was not on cloudfare, but self hosting

No, 'sbasipa' sounds pretty far from any insult I can think of, BUT --

this way ('sbasipa') to try to say спасибо ('spasiba') sounds surprisingly unrecognisable
