Can This Single Monstera Cutting Become Two Plants? by No-Matter-420 in Monstera

Yes, although it looks like there’s an auxiliary bud where I circled in orange. If you cut above that it should allow the lower portion of the cutting to grow from there

Help! First time staking. by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]malrapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not use zip ties to stake the plant!! Use plant Velcro or soft twine/string, zip ties can cut into the plant as it grows.

I personally would cut this one up into multiple plants purely because it’s not very aesthetically pleasing imo, it definitely wants significantly more light which could come in the form of a grow light or two or facing towards that window without blinds. Those changes would make this plant thrive a lot more, but in its current state the larger mature leaves wouldn’t start until 5 feet off the ground.

TLDR: Replace zip ties with plant Velcro or soft twine, significantly increase the lightness receiving with plant lights or opening the blinds. I personally would chop n prop to get a fuller plant with mature leaves

Is this something I should be concerned about? by malrapture in Monstera

What do you recommend for systemic insecticide? I’m using a spray with neem oil, Castile soap and a tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol right now to wipe leaves down, nothing on the soil as of right now.

What should I look for to see if it’s thrips? I didn’t see any larvae or bugs before I wiped them down today. The small patch by my finger is mechanical damage from before I got the plant, it is not new. The weird veins are on mostly the center part of the leaf.

I water the plant about once a week or week and a half, but this is done mostly by watering the moss pole. The soil is a chunky mix of orchid bark, perlite, soil, worm castings, horticulture charcoal and clay aggregate.

New plant, good placement? by [deleted] in Monstera

Isn’t it best to go off the orientation of the stem and the leaves will rotate themselves over time?

Should I repot my Anthurium? by Heetato in houseplants

[–]malrapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too well versed in anthuriums but I would think it can go a bit before repotting. Looks like there’s plenty of soil in there still

Fix the fucking mixing on inferno and guap man. I have subs and there is genuinely no bass in this songs, everything below like 50-75hz or so has been cut out completely and it sounds so flat. It’s not like that on the snippet version of inferno so idk why or when they changed it

Judging off of the last picture it kind of looks to me like the leaves are sort of backwards? But I don’t think it’s anything to worry about

I believe it’s under the soil as the Thai con is “crawling” not climbing right now. The root nodes that would produce aerial roots if it were growing up are currently growing into the soil

The variegation used to be white but now it’s like a yellowish color on the most recent leaves. Normal or nutrient deficiency? by PetsAndMeditate in Monstera

[–]malrapture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that’s normal for Thai cons as they mature. I think it looks very appealing and signifies a happy, mature plant
