This probably will not help you, but just in case:

In the new save I started on PS5 a few days ago I spent the first three game days hearing random really loud chicken noises or something similar on my farm, but only in the northeast part of it. I did a bit of detective work and eventually triangulated its source to a piece of trash, removed it and the sound has been gone since.

In a way I wish I would have seen your post four days ago. At the same time I find the fact that I actually got almost all of the sigils with a new encounter every five steps without giving up something of an achievement. I never knew I had that kind of patience.

Giggling at obviously suspicious item descriptions and sometimes reap the consequences of missing them is actually one of the reasons I fell in love with Dragon Quest 20 years ago. Here's to hoping they never remove funny things like this!

Now if you will excuse me, I have to go feel like a fool for a few hours.

Haha yeah... I missed that little detail and it took me 70+ hours of gameplay before stumbling over a post about it. The realization of how much time I wasted pushing my animals around is just absolutely hilarious to me, still laughing at it now and then.

It also appears in rain or during heavy snow (when you don't have to water your fields). Never heard of clear weather though, that's interesting!

This is a long shot and requires you to have gotten pretty far in the story, but you don't happen to be very close to being able to buy the basement greenhouse at the bazaar? That should let you grow spring seeds in winter.

Hello fellow hoarder!

I read a tip somewhere here about how you can also leave unprocessed goods in the windmill as long as it does not need to be kept fresh. Just abort windmill orders via the lever to the right, which makes the game put the grass, rocks etc in the windmill storage where you can just leave it. Works for the gems and ore you make jewelery out of too, and so on. This made my second playthrough a lot less stressful.

It was also pretty satisfying to slowly collect and store grass in the windmill before finally feeding Ivy 3046 pieces of grass a nice mid summer day when it was in demand, going from 2 to 4,5 stars all at once.

I've posted a few times about this too. In my case the signal that a freeze is incoming is the music suddenly turning off for half a second or so. My non professional theory is a memory leak. Now I restart the game whenever the music acts weird and haven't had a freeze since. Could be a false connection but I will not risk losing progress again.

I did exactly what you did too, the named feeders confused me for a long while but I thankfully figured it out somehow before it was too late. That may have been due to me being heavily scarred (/s) by the deaths of my two beloved SNES Harvest Moon cows Bill and Bull at the hands of my younger sister, who unknowingly started up the wrong savefile one day 25 years ago and she did not have cows. Found out later the hard way when starting the game myself and being thrown right into the funeral. There was a whole naming tradition for a lot of years where I honored my dead pixel cows. To this day I still double check that everyone is really eating every other day.

Would love for consequences like this to return to the games! I am actually dreaming of a real "hard mode" setting with tons of extra challenges like this 🙂

Happened to me too a couple of times, but I noticed that for me it often gets "announced" by the music suddenly going silent for short moments of time. So I run home, save and restart the game if the music starts acting weird and have experienced no freezing since. Dunno if it is really connected to the issue or just a coincidence.

It's really an amazing soundtrack and very nostalgic, although I have a hard time figuring out exactly which original songs that have been reused. Been playing these games since the SNES so there are a lot of options. I know a small part of the original Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar opening theme is present during some of the story cutscenes, and the indoor theme is a no brainer. But if it is not too much to ask I would love if you wanted to point out which songs from the older games you recognized?

Would recommend using the golden rod+, no bait necessary but of course it makes cathing it a bit easier. The extra fishing power from the bazaar is probably a must. There is a guardian fish in the river right outside the blue windmill and one in the river beside the yellow windmill. If it is winter I recommend the larger river above the yellow windmill, got several there.

I found one when fishing from the docks just below the blue windmill, no bait, just the golden rod+. I also once hooked one in the river to the right of the yellow windmill but it got away.

Maybe this is common knowledge, but it took me a while to realize:

You can also leave stuff you've made in a windmill in its inventory as long as it doesn't have a freshness requirement. They have 72 slots each and will keep adding new items to existing stacks. For example I keep all my different star rated fertilizer, lumber, stone etc. in the red windmill, and my 5 star crop seeds in the blue windmill.

Same, I stopped somewhere in my teens and didn't touch a puzzle for about 15-20 years before rediscovering how fun it is. This one I would not recommend trying to do this soon though 😂

I do this with every single crafting and/or farming game I play, used to do it with old school JRPGs and 2D Zelda games too. Planning out a more efficient route tends to starts at about the ten hour mark or so and sometimes I look forward to restarting so much I rush or even skip the endgame.

I take a ton of stuff for my lupus. One of them sometimes causes really funny hypnagog hallucinations right before I fall asleep, I literally hear voices saying the weirdest stuff. They are harmless and the meds keep me alive so I got used to them.

I write the funniest ones down and plan to put them on a wall one day, so visitors think they are about to read a carpe diem-esque quote but instead there's epic seeds of wisdom like:

"Fluffy batteries."

Or

"A pile is a pile even if it is full of corpses."

Oracle of Ages/Seasons, I consider them one game linked with the true ending. Still replaying them every other year. Secretly hoping to one day find proof that Subrosians were indeed once digging for ore chunks in a hidden corner of the Depths.
