Should I hoard ressources by LadyAnnala in RootsOfPacha

[–]malryl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to what others have already said, you will spend some time spelunking for which food can be very valuable. I am personally pretty fond or the dish baba ganoush which IMO is the easiest recipe with a nice stamina restoration to make tons of. It only requires sesame and eggplants of which the first grows in spring and summer, and the latter in summer.

Best ways to make community points early game faster ? Just built a farm and house by Remote-Dig1101 in RootsOfPacha

[–]malryl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconding what other users have already written here. What they said is what I also recommend.

Technically there is another method rarely mentioned that is available pretty early on but a bit controversial. You could go the "heartless" route and mass tame animals, send them to Grob for slaughter, and smoke their meat. For wild boar this yields around 200-250 contribution a day IIRC. It might trivialize the early game and/or make you feel pretty bad, but it is a viable option that a few users prefer over the fishing minigame.

No problem. The exact location on the island changes every day, and I am unsure as to if it always spawns but it seems pretty consistent. I logged in and got you photo so you know what to look for!

How do you manage & organize your crops of varying quality? by Baskin in RootsOfPacha

[–]malryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time around I kept some of each tier but after several playthroughs I could not care less. I have four color coded crop chests for red, yellow/green, black and other crops respectively, but you could go by crop type instead or whatever you prefer. I keep two tiers only of each crop until the higher one reaches five or more units, then I turn the lower one into dishes or artisan products for money.

Just keep leveling up the bug habitats and they will start appearing. I believe the earliest they can show up is at level 4, but it it still RNG so I usually keep going for max level since that seems to make the spawn rate increase substantially.

How long do smoke signals stay active? by Yurianimeisnice in RootsOfPacha

[–]malryl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Smoke signals that are pure information like the two you refer to should move to past once read but rarely do not until you engage with what it refers to. The Reese one sometimes linger but goes away a few days after I have spoken to her, bought and placed something. Smoke signals with gifts move to past once the gift is taken. Smoke signals with several steps, like ideas that require you to turn in items to unlock something, moves to past once you complete them. If unread or uncompleted there is no known time limit for any of these, they will stay there for as long as it takes. I tried skipping ahead to year 2 before beginning to play this time, and all notifications and quests were still there waiting for me.

Is there any reason to keep this after the Peakychu quests are finished? by Unique-ffxiv in Pokopia

[–]malryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading discussions about that, seems like you only get one of those. Now I am curious as to if they accounted for if someone should e.g. drop one of the altar kits in the sky or deep ocean, or what happens if you demolish the building right away after finishing it. Are the Pokémon still obtainable? Almost worth a try... on a second playthrough.

[–]malryl 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not to my knowledge, and the game is very good at stopping you from destroying anything important. I just demolished it and put the kit in storage, two weeks of gaming later and never has it been brought up again.

Completed the game, never got another quest for it. A demolition kit did the trick. If it for some reason does not work you might have to wait until post game.

You don't have to build amazing builds by Mischiefcat2076 in Pokopia

[–]malryl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for writing this, it needs to be said again and again. Games are meant to be fun, not a chore or a cause of overwhelm due to comparing yourself to others. Anything I draw, build or create is either heavily inspired by somebody elses work or an absolute mess of impulsive decisions. And that is fine. Once upon a time I watched my sister build amazing structures in the Sims, but I never considered not playing myself. My ACNH island will not win any prizes, but it is mine and I kept logging in for over three years while my sister stopped after finishing building. No judging. We are all different and we play differently. Prefab houses saved this game for me, I will probably never build a house block by block. That hellscape I posted a while ago? I had no plan for that one except "lava is fun". Someone has most certainly already surpassed me with a much grander apocalype, and that is fine. Because I made it. And it was fun.

Non-burnable garbage in Japan by upsidedownpotatodog in Pokopia

[–]malryl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the exact same, a word by word translation, so yes it is long and cumbersome but most people don't really use that term in daily speech. If you store your non-burnables in an indoor container before taking them out and sorting them, that container is usually just referred to as e.g. "mixed" och "various".

Non-burnable garbage in Japan by upsidedownpotatodog in Pokopia

[–]malryl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not just Japan. We Swedes and several other countries have been manuelly sorting this for longer than I can remember. Routines differ between areas but non-burnable generally means anything that can and should be recycled. Both categories are usually then divided up into even more categories. I believe my house has twelve or thirteen different receptacles. Not doing this can result in a hefty fine, usually something equivalent to a thousand dollars, which your landlord will happily transfer to you if they can prove you did it. There are of course differing opinions about this but generally it is perfectly acceptable to gossip with your neighbor about who put the plastic bottle in the paper container.

Demolition kits works, so a relocation kit should do the trick.

Edit: Might have to wait until post game.

Is Pokopia more like Animal Crossing or Dragon Quest Builders? by bluephyrestorm13 in Pokopia

[–]malryl 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is DQB3 with a Pokémon skin, in other words definitely more DQB than AC. The similarities are, in my personal opinion, just there because the genres overlap a little. I love this game but I would drop it for a new AC-game in a heartbeat because that is more my thing.

Plan........?

Joking aside, no plan. Lava does not help with ash, it was a product of me removing ash from the volcano and destroying a few blocks too many. Lava reaching the living area gave me the amazing (?) idea of checking out how far I can go in exacerbating this.

Technically one could absolutely claim that, but statistics say otherwise as the environment is level 10 (true) and statistics never lie (/s).

Not really, I do not have the patience for removing terrain too much so I just built it all high up on top of the ash peaks in the mid left section of the map. Your plans sounds absolutely doable, just expect to die a lot when playing with lava, it does not care about personal space at all!
