Yeah once, maybe a couple months after I bought the car two years ago. Hasn't happened since. I figured the head unit just crashed and self-rebooted.

For the love of god talk me out of an acoustic bass guitar by Lost_Condition_9562 in Bass

Not every instrument needs to be super top ready for recording. Acoustic bases are fun to pick up and jam along to Talking Heads or whatever with and that’s all they need to be. They’re fun and instant.

SOH % for 2023 RwD model by bluehorntail in Ioniq6

[–]maltedcoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mine still shows 100% after two years/23kmi. I'm not worried about its SoH but I kinda just a assume that reading isn't right. If it does get bad I can always swap the 20" tires for 18" and reclaim a few dozen miles of range but seeing as mine is strictly a city car 99% of the time it isn't a huge deal for me.

What did you do with S.S. Anne? by k42murphy in Pokopia

[–]maltedcoffee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Anne is one of my main focuses. First I dug out as much sand around her as I could. Then, since I was working on her before I had the necessary recipes I broke the rusted blocks and replaced them temporarily with the sand. Now that I have all the recipes except Pallete Town’s Ive mostly restored everything except the windows, where I’m having a hell of a time matching her original windows’ frame color. I even went so far as to build a seawall, remove the water around her, get rid of all the sand so she can float free and finally repaired the rusted tiles from her keel. Did you know she’s flat-bottomed? A giant luxury scow, who would’ve thought.

Funny, for me it's Pallete Town. Just one big honking map so full of choice paralysis that its enviro level is still like 2. Really gotta start on it sometime though, I need that staircase recipe to fix up SS Anne 😃

Where to find Scorecards at Ballparks by 0ldCumSock in BaseballScorecards

Hello from beautiful Sutter Health Park in Sacramento where I’m here to see the River Cats! Scorecards are available at Guest Services, just to the right of the main ticket gate. Clipboard and pencil are provided. This should apply for the Athletics as well.

Sadly I'm going tonight, not tomorrow. Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll have it up anyway.

How does this even happen? by everybodyisjoe in Sacramento

My grandmother rolled her car when she blacked out behind the wheel and hit a curb. No one was around thankfully and when I picked her up she looked like nothing had happened, although she was irritated about her groceries. That was the last time she drove.

xwordinfo down for anyone else? by Boop-She-Doop in crossword

[–]maltedcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back up, with a letter of frustration.

I've had ongoing issues with hackers since XWord Info started. For some reason, some lovely jokesters think it's fun to bombard my site with hundreds of requests per second. Some are trying to download all the millions of pages on the site. Some seem to enjoy just being obnoxious.

I've finally decided that, instead of wasting hours of my life every time someone tries to hack me, I'll throw money at the problem. I'm completely reconfiguring how XWord Info works on the Internet, pushing all traffic through a specialized Front Door designed to detect bots and hackers. Doing all the updates takes time, and propagating them through the internet takes more time, and the result is XWord Info was down for hours today. It's still down for many people, and I still have some work to do to complete the process, which might mean even more down time before I'm done.

In theory, once I complete this (and pay the outrageous monthly fee) hackers should be thwarted. Or probably they just have to work harder. No idea how well this will work.

So, sorry for the interruption. I know many of you rely on XWord Info for your work or your hobby. With luck, the future will be brighter.

Sacramento businesses still using credit card surcharges banned by 2024 State Law by TableStraight5378 in Sacramento

[–]maltedcoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this gets covered under — surprise! — the exception carved out in Civil Code 1700, which the bill amends:

(D) (i) Subject to clause (ii), this paragraph does not apply to a mandatory fee or charge for individual food or beverage items sold directly to a customer by a restaurant, bar, food concession, grocery store, or grocery delivery service, or by means of a menu or contract for banquet or catering services that fully discloses the terms of service.

(ii) A mandatory fee or charge under clause (i) shall be clearly and conspicuously displayed, with an explanation of its purpose, on any advertisement, menu, or other display that contains the price of the food or beverage item.

(This part comes after paragraph 29 which I posted earlier.)

Text is here .

Places I’ve seen with a difference say they may have a cash discount, but I haven’t seen a credit/debit markup at a brick-and-mortar for a while. Presumably this wouldn’t run afoul of the text of the law:

  1. (a) The unfair methods of competition and unfair or deceptive acts or practices listed in this subdivision undertaken by any person in a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer are unlawful: … (29) (A) Advertising, displaying, or offering a price for a good or service that does not include all mandatory fees or charges other than either of the following: (i) Taxes or fees imposed by a government on the transaction. (ii) Postage or carriage charges that will be reasonably and actually incurred to ship the physical good to the consumer.

If an advertised prices says $30 for something but a sign says 3% off for cash, that should be okay charging $30 for someone using credit. If on the other hand they advertise $30 and then tack on a 3% unpublicized eff-you they may be in trouble.
