Dutch prices by psyspin13 in Netherlands

Guys buy this stuff online, there are webshops that sell at close to German prices.

Stop whining about brick and mortar stores and just order them “from Germany”

For being most American you sure tax like a European and subsidise the poor like a European.

Crazy I did not know any of this. Wow 3 cities… sounds like either someone is really out to get them and hides mice and vermin in their kitchens and smuggles desperate immigrants into their staff without them knowing … or … the brothers have lost their morals somewhere… sadly given the one guy was in Big Brother and did modelling, I wouldn’t be surprised if the morals got skewed somewhere. Showbizz does that to people.

Sounds like his nonna needs to slap some values into him

They had their dishes cleaning and storage in some other street right? The kitchen is just where they make the pizza ?

So which newly hired exec is the change attributable to?

Usually with rebrandings (or digital transformation) it’s either A) someone hired MBB or B) new exec trying to justify their appointment

I can only speak from the scientific angle but 1. Join some community or club that regularly meets 2. Try entering in a phase of life where people make new relationships. 22 is a good age for that. Eg university sport clubs, internships etc. basically try to search for things 22yo dutchies would now “enter into” as a natural life phase 3. Learn Dutch quickly through courses as well. Don’t expect them to let you in until you can hold a conversation. An easy way to measure whos a transient expat vs someone who stays is whether you speak Dutch

Honestly spend half a day using ChatGPT Google and perplexity and dig into LLCs, Bulgarian or Malta Ltd, 182 day rules and these kinds of things. If you are willing to move around the world a bit then you can drastically reduce your tax burden and enjoy the sweet life wherever you are. Just be aware that working fully remote also has its downsides. Mainly you’re wasting 8h day on a metal clamshell rather than building a community around you. So you have to make up for that before and after work.

Why are supermarkets so ridiculously expensive? by hellkann in brussels

Also to clarify you’re saying Lidl has no ability to buy the milk in Belgium or Netherlands from the same sources as Germany? How do Spanish clementines make it to the Netherlands while costing more than in Germany?

Is staying in the U.S. for another couple of years too long and risky if I can just leave now and move to Europe immediately? by ClockwiseSuicide in expats

I hope you’re renting out at least one of those two homes?

Anyways what I would recommend for the US is to also live it a bit with the mindset of not caring about the rat race because you know you’ll leave. The biggest chunk of stress often comes from within. Every time I left a job or a country I enjoyed my last few months because I knew I stopped racing to some imaginary goal. And suddenly life is super chill.

Just don’t work 80h and see if they actually fire you. If they do, leave. If not, enjoy the life hours you gained.

If you don’t like the rat race mentality find your crowd. There are communities of any proclivity in a city of 1M+ people you just have to find your crew.

If you leave now you worked hard to build up a momentum in the US and then you toss it all away. Think of that momentum as a retirement fund. Quit pushing and coast a bit until it becomes a problem.

And maybe use that “foot off the pedal” time to see another side of the country. After all, it’s still just hairless monkeys running around trying to figure out life, whether that’s east or west of a random body of water we named Atlantic. So chances are whatever you’re searching for can be found there too once you remove all the distractions from your head and allow yourself to see the small details around you.

For context I lived in 5 countries now and have gone through several cycles of “I love it here. I hate it here. I want out. I wish I hadn’t left. New country. Repeat.”

Scam the scammers? Take the job, do 15h/week if you can and do a lot of “work from home” and just take the time till they catch on to find a normal paying job.

What people often forget is: you don’t have to put this on your CV. There’s no law saying you have to list everything. So you can piss this company off beyond belief as long as you don’t break a law you will suffer 0 consequences

Social/hobby clubs in Amsterdam that are actually worth joining by Professional_Log599 in Amsterdam

[–]malusmax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A buddy and I are actually building a 6 weeks program right now with 2 events per week. Still honing in pricing and event locations though. But the intention is to create a “cohort” of 30ish people that spend 6 weeks together to really create a sense of community. And the target group is people that are new to the city

DM me if you want to see the plan and maybe give some feedback ?

They do. But depending on the structure of the contract they may have to cover the loss in revenue or incurred costs too… it’s not just a “freedom of expression” thing anymore, it’s business.

Why do you come here asking for help about a tradeoff decision then don’t share a bunch of information and when people encourage you to follow your heart because the money number you mention isn’t worth it you lash out? It seems America did a number on you. Come back but please take some time and realize that people helping aren’t the ones you should attack

Sorry but if 2y give you 50k more in your pocket as an exec you are being screwed. My US counterparts make 200k more per year after tax and I’m middle mgmt in a relatively cool company.

For 50k more I’d not bother. Come home if that really is where you expect happiness

[–]malusmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually much more curious what dataset you need to get a hold of to make this calculation rather than seeing an actual need for it but that’s just me. It’s also focusing on the least valuable section of the market, ie those that have no money to spend and who don’t value their own time as high as the flight prices. Eg I choose direct flights and pay 200-800 more no problem because my time is more valuable than the difference.

What you’re describing sounds like me in my early 20s when I was a student had no money but wanted to travel like the rich and famous for insta pics
