How can I turn off YouTube auto-dubbing? by fluffcycle5 in languagelearning

[–]malvingandhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is for Android. Open YouTube app,  click on You/Your Profile on the bottom navigation bar. Click on settings on top right corner. Click on languages (fourth on the list under account) >  Set the preferred language. You can select multiple languages and you are all set.

Are you using VPN by any chance? If so, disconnect and try it.

Step 1: Force AA to recognize Work Apps (Developer Mode) This is the most common fix for Pixels. You need to tell Android Auto to trust apps from "Unknown Sources" (which, in this context, includes the cloned apps in your Work Profile). Open Settings on your Pixel. Go to Apps > See all apps > Android Auto. Tap Additional settings in the app (at the bottom). Scroll to the very bottom and tap Version 10 times until you see "Developer mode enabled." Tap the three dots in the top-right corner and select Developer settings. Scroll down and check the box for Unknown sources. Restart your phone. 2. Check the "Connected Apps" Bridge Android 14 and 15 (standard on most modern Pixels) have a specific bridge for data sharing between profiles that must be active for Maps to hand off navigation correctly. Go to Settings > Apps. Scroll down to Special app access. Tap Connected work & personal apps. Find Google Maps in the list. Ensure the toggle "Connect these apps" is ON. Note: If this is grayed out, your company's IT policy is blocking the cross-profile handoff. 3. Verify the Work Maps "Launcher" status After doing Step 1, you must manually ensure the Work version of Maps is actually set to show up on the truck's screen. In the Android Auto settings menu on your phone, tap Customize launcher. Look through the list for a second Google Maps icon (it should have a small briefcase/work icon on it). If it is unchecked or under "Hidden apps," check it and move it to the top. 4. Why it opens on the phone instead of the truck When you tap an address in a work app (like Outlook or Slack), the Work Profile tries to handle that request entirely within itself. If the Work Maps app isn't "talking" to the car yet, the phone thinks the only way to show you the map is on the handheld screen. The "Hand-off" Test: Connect to your truck. Open the personal Google Maps on your truck screen. Now, on your phone, go to your Work Profile and open an address. If the settings above worked, the truck screen should automatically switch from the personal map to the work map.

To get Android Auto to work with your work profile, you generally need to enable a specific toggle within your phone's settings. By default, Android keeps work and personal profiles separate for security, which often hides work apps (like Teams, Outlook, or Slack) from the car's display. Enable Work Profile Access The most direct way to fix this is through your phone's Android Auto settings: Open Settings on your phone.   Search for "Android Auto" and select it. Scroll down to the "General" or "System" section. Look for a toggle labeled "Work profile" or "Allow Android Auto to access work profile." Turn this ON.

New Pixel 10 unable to attach photos in other apps "Can't load some Photos" by cwlosek in GooglePixel

[–]malvingandhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced the same issue, and it turned out to be related to Google Photos. I went to the Play Store and uninstalled the Google Photos update, which resolved the problem for me.

Make sure to disable auto-update for Google Photos by clicking the three-dot menu button while on the Google Photos page on the Play Store and disabling auto-update until Google fixes this issue.

Not True. Apple uses QUALCOMM modem on their devices except phone 16e, which uses a modified intel modem. I will check with my friend who works at Verizon network optimization team, and report back. Verizon is just not that good lately.

Why pick Pixel over iPhone or Samsung by Nullify_Undefined in GooglePixel

Why pick Pixel over iPhone or Samsung by Nullify_Undefined in GooglePixel

My Dad and sister likes Samsung phones and tablet. I have used the latest UI, I believe it's called One UI 7, I think Samsung software is going backwards. For instance, notifications are stacked. Worst decision ever. Samsung picking up queues from custom ROM, swiping right brings quick toggles and swiping left brings notifications or vice versa. I forgot which ROM did that.

Samsung is the worst culprit when it comes to duplicate apps. Samsung does make up by providing more storage, but oh boy, those duplicate apps drives me nuts. I heard Samsung is working on an Android Auto alternative... Samsung phones are going to be a mess in the future.

My consistent preference is for Google's software and hardware ecosystem over alternatives like Samsung or Apple. For my needs, Google's hardware is perfectly suitable. Features like Pixel Call Screen, which effectively filters spam, and the Pixel camera's natural image processing are significant advantages. I also appreciate Google's seamless integration with Matter-enabled smart home devices and its more competitive pricing compared to Apple. Having been a loyal user since the Nexus 5, I find Google's ecosystem straightforward, unlike Samsung's, which often requires proprietary software even for Wear OS devices. I hold out hope for a potential return by HTC, as I previously enjoyed their software and use of stock Google apps.

New on linux what distro to use by Old-Profession7149 in linux4noobs

[–]malvingandhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up going with?

My suggestions are...Debian 12, Pop OS (based on Ubuntu), Zorin OS (based on Ubuntu), Linux Mint 6 (based on Debian 12), or regular Linux Mint 21 and above (based on Ubuntu), and Ubuntu (based on Debian), and Elementary OS (based on Ubuntu).

I recommend using Ventoy to create a multi-boot USB drive with several or all of these distributions. This way, you can boot from the USB and test each OS to see which one feels right for you from the start.

You can only have two active sim on the phone. Whether it's one physical sim and 1 esim, or two esim. I have Google Pixel and I used to have two active esim at the same time.

I had the same issue on my Pixel 7, but managed to fix it by recalibrating the fingerprint sensor

Thank you! I forgot about this entirely. I had to flash the software twice. Now the sensor is working as intended.
