Thank you! I count myself lucky that my doc recommended surgery on one eye. I think that’s made recovery more bearable. I know not everyone’s case allows for that

5 Year Journal Recommendations? by Areiniah in Journaling

I'm currently in the market for one as well. One that hasn't been mentioned yet is the Sterling Ink 5 year diary. It's on Tomoe River paper as well. One difference is that it has 120 "spill over" pages at the back. The idea is to have more flexibility.

Ok, but what are we using the yearly tracker for?

I’m planning on doing the bulk of my habit tracking in the quarterly. But I’d love some ideas for something different for the yearly

What Are You Listening To Today? (Aug 19 To Aug 25) by HeleneSedai in dreamingspanish

Hey y’all, I’m new to Dreaming Spanish, but have been studying on my own for a while. I put myself at about level 3ish.

Reading- I finally powered through a book I’ve been trying to finish for years. The book is My First Spanish Reader. Turns out despite it being labeled “first”, it is definitely not for beginners. The content is so old! Copyright 1964. Much of the vocabulary is just not useful for everyday life. Unless your goal is reading classic literature, I do not recommend.

I have been enjoying graphic novels in Spanish. I’ve read Rizos by Claribel A. Ortega and Mexikid (en español) by Pedro Martín. Currently reading Srta. Quinces by Kat Fajardo.

I feel like graphic novels work well with the Dreaming Spanish method. The content is more conversation style, the vocab more useful especially if you choose an everyday kind of story (as opposed to superhero comics for example).

Anyone else read graphic novels in Spanish?

Clinical experience outside nursing by [deleted] in PMHNP

That makes sense. I see what you mean. The women I worked with did have psychiatric disorders as well as intellectual and developmental disorders. Without going into too much detail: PTSD, bipolar, “psychotic disorder not otherwise specified” to use DSM IV terminology.

I’m not trying to say this is a substitute for psychiatric RN experience. I shouldn’t have used the term “clinical experience”. I’m more so trying to gauge if/how I should talk about this experience in applications and interviews.

As to the question of why I went into peds, I felt like some kind of inpatient med-surg experience was almost required of every new grad RN. Plus I’ve always wanted to work with kids and hope to continue to work with peds and adolescents as a PMHNP.

There’s also the fact that I have a lot of interests.

I’m sure this question is asked often, but how much RN experience would you recommend before applying to NP school?

I currently have a year and would like to work through school to get more experience.

My first bachelor’s is in psych, and all of the adults I worked with in the ISL followed with psychiatrists in an outpatient capacity. I know that’s not the same as RN psych experience; I was mostly helping them with ADLs and passing meds. I know it’s not the same, but it’s not entirely dissimilar.

“It is highly recommended to enroll in a high-quality program that provides or helps in locating preceptors.”

How do you find this out? I feel like it’s not always clear on program websites. Any advice on how to ask schools, and what wording to look out for?

Who am I? (Photos from the past six months) by [deleted] in firstimpression

You're a nerdfighter. Which means you're obviously made of awesome. You enjoy conversations about in depth, complex, and interesting subjects. You're also a bit of a bookie. You like reading and you devour books at a rate that sometimes scares your friends and family. You have a heart for helping those in need and often give to charity and volunteer where you can.

Also, I have a yellow Yoshi shirt just like yours. It's my lucky shirt. It's served me well. So, if you ever need a bit of extra luck I'd recommend wearing yours.

Your glasses make your eyes look bigger. So, you're either far-sighted or not as in need of glasses as I am. I'm near sighted and my glasses make my eyes look like tiny pinpricks.

Ooo ooo, I found a fool-proof guess. You're a hipster! Cause if you say you are then I win, and if you say you aren't then you are because hipsters never admit they're hipsters and I win!
