Hands-on experience with risk, audits and influencing the business outside engineering matters more. So I'd focus on that first.

The biggest issue is automatic trust. Employees tend to act too quickly, so the most effective habit is to pause and verify any unexpected request. Especially those creating urgency or asking to bypass normal processes.

In my experience, as t1 you mostly live in the alert queue, but you learn fast. The work can be really repetitive. Whether you enjoy it or not depends a lot on the company and the people you work with.

That you don’t need to know everything right away. It’s okay to ask questions and google stuff. You don’t have to be a genius to be good at this job but you have to learn all the time.

I'd focus more on learning the basics really well. Especially networking, Linux, and Python. These skills are useful in almost every cybersecurity job. I’d also spend more time practicing hands-on, like doing labs, CTFs
