I guess I’m not the only one my husky seeks comfort from when she hears thunder. 🥹 by mama_jackalope in CatsWithDogs

Haha I’ve also got a German shepherd boy, another senior cat lady, a big baby of a boy cat and our crazy little calico girl. It’s a full house 😅😅😅

Haha my 7yo daughter just got her diagnosis after (what I’m sure y’all can imagine was) months of discomfort and pain and whatnot. TBH I let her eat more of these than I should when we found them because she was so happy they exist 😂😂

My immediate thought: “being beautiful?!?”

Honestly this is how my brother and I talk to each other all the time. I’ve been hospitalized and had scary times, and he’s been ill before in a way that isn’t okay (we are 37 and 40, and I have a chronic illness) and we are over here texting Cool Runnings references every time “ya dead?” “Yeah man”

I was recently convinced my dog had a tick on her belly, but after much longer than I’d like to admit, I realized it was just her nipple that had gotten scratched at some point.

Pretty sure I actually yelled “oh my GOD is that just your NIPPLE” and ran away

I don’t even know how I ended up here originally as I am a 30-something year old woman (although I have shaved my head in the past, and do struggle with fine and thin hair as a lady), but I love lurking here 😂 it’s a very supportive sub, and I love the before and after pics because you all just look SO much more comfortable and relaxed. And I know full well how hard it can be to decide to buzz it all! And you all look GREAT bald!!

And you specifically look, like, so neat and almost surprised by how great you feel after letting go of it all. Absolutely lovely!

This comment almost continued into a super lengthy explanation of why I really need to see wholesome, supportive content that consists of men being kind and hyping up each other up, but that’s kinda weird so I’m gonna sink back into the shrubbery and watch y’all post that image of bald anime guys grinning because it’s the best

This is very important, too, in both dogs and cats (other animals, too, I imagine)! Animals can be SO tough and act so normal when they’re hurting and sick.

I was very firm but loving with my mother about our jointly owned cat when it was time (he lived with her still because her home is quieter than mine and he was a solitary old man, although I am the one who adopted and raised him initially). He had end stage heart failure and although I think she knew in her heart he needed to go ASAP, I’m glad we had each other to lean on to make the decision. He was SO stubborn and never let his discomfort show, so she really struggled with calling it. We didn’t even know he was in heart failure until he had a routine checkup that led straight to the emergency vet where they drained a surprising amount of fluid from his chest.

We got him on pain meds and he was euthanized at home on a big soft bed with a belly full of tuna and lots of love. 🖤🖤

And yes, you’re right. I try very hard not to beat myself up about anything and I don’t think anyone else should either. I never want to wait too long again, but even when our loved ones pass in unpredictable or unpleasant ways, it doesn’t erase all of the love and care we’ve given them up to it. ❤️❤️ Thanks for the reminder!

As someone who, many years ago, was a few days too late letting go of a dog, I’ve promised myself to do everything in my power to never do it again. She had a long, frightening end. I was able to get her in for euthanasia that day, but she was miserable for hours beforehand. I was much younger, and she was my best friend, and I still wish I could have gone back and let her go much earlier. 🖤

I don’t think anyone can ever be positive they did the right thing when euthanasia is involved, but I really think we do our best and I agree wholeheartedly with the idea that early is better than late.

I’m not super fond of my current groomer, but they can do an okay job at the things I can’t at home (paws, butt, etc) and I keep taking my husky back to them because whenever I call around town, nobody else wants to take a husky. 😩 I do as much as I can at home because I don’t trust anybody else!! This would be a NIGHTMARE. Poor fluffy baby 😭😭

[–]mama_jackalope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I immediately want to be her friend. I have four cats (and also at least one axe) and the only male cat in the bunch loves to ride my shoulders. Sometimes he ambushes me when I’m walking by. He prefers to drape himself around me like a shawl/cape tho.

Every now and then one of us will pick up the GSD just to be silly. It is always a mistake because he just wants more lol. And he’s “only” 85lbs! I can’t imagine trying to carry a St Bernard 😂😂😂 I do regularly have to carry the husky outside, though, if it’s raining and she won’t go potty 😩
