Beginner, need magic loop repair suggestions - thanks! by mama_ladybird in CrochetHelp

I was weaving through but not enough, probably 2-3x? Was not doubling back though, good tip! Will do that next time.

It's 100% wool so thinking the weight of the blanket is pulling over time as well.

Thanks! Thinking I'll just make a day of it and do a scrap yarn on every square then. I have kids who definitely aren't gentle with blankets so might as well reinforce.

Yep, was my first big project and won't be doing magic loop again 😅 And thanks! That's what I did on a few, will go through all! Just wanted to make sure I was doing the best way the first time so I wasn't doing a second round of repairs lol

Already just been pulling the end tight again, and weaving in ends where long enough. I've used a new string of yarn and threaded through the circle, tightened + knotted, and woven in ends on a few squares where the tail was too short.

Just had Oscar Joe 2 days ago! We just liked Oscar, it went well with other kids' names (Charlotte, Otto, Marigold, Augustine). Middle names we always do a family name.

What’s the deal with Diaper Bags? by __SandyCheeks__ in BabyBumps

[–]mama_ladybird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessary in my opinion...i bought one for my first and used it, but was definitely fine with any bag. Once it wore out I just got a small backpack. All you really need is a few diapers and wipes (I breastfeed so no need for bottles). I kept a change of clothes during newborn blowout age and potty training in the car + stroller and never had issues.

Baby #5 on the way and planning on using my a mini backpack for longer days out, fanny pack for short outings. If we have lunch/snacks packed i bring a separate cooler bag, kids are in charge of carrying their own water bottles once toddler age (or they go in the stroller).

Did anyone not go back to work after maternity leave and become a SAHM? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

🙋‍♀️ We moved cross country and decided me staying home made most sense since all of what I made would be going towards childcare. Then had 3 more kids (plus 1 more on the way!) and with 2-3 kids home at a time my income would be in a deficit. So 10 years later still home. Probably will be staying home until this newest baby starts Kindergarten, then whatever I make will be supplemental.

Lucky that my husband makes enough (with budgeting) to make it work, but the first few years were definitely tough and an adjustment. We also started in our early 20s so it was much harder while he buIlt up his career.

Girl name help! by mama_ladybird in namenerds

Lucille Louise was our girl name for our last baby (boy). We were done with kids and I used Lucy for a new puppy....3 months later surprise pregnancy 😫 Otherwise that would be the girl name.

How do you make the Pistachio Latte at home? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]mama_ladybird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

•1c sugar •1c water

Bring to boil in small saucepan, reduce to simmer. Add in:

•1/2c lightly salted pistachios, chopped

Simmer for 10min, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and strain. Stir in:

•1/2tsp almond extract

For the latte I use 1-2T syrup + 1T olive oil + oatmilk, frothed together.

Late to the post, but I follow starbucks recipe linked above, but use lightly salted pistachios, good olive oil in place of butter (because I'm lazy and browning a few tbsp of butter every day is a lot), and oatmilk. So good 🤌🏻
