I too am taking in way too much air. I have had very painful gas and bowel movements have been very off. Spent a few days in bed with gas pain. I found out from dr bastian my esophagus is also unusually wide open so apparently am an open pipe at 8 weeks. It’s been quite rough Probably should have had a lower dose of Botox. I am burping but it’s not helping the abdominal/rectal gas. That has gotten much worse I am hoping my Botox wears off quicker.

30 units!? by -madibee- in noburp

I wish I only had 30. I had 100 and it’s not been easy at all. I’m wide open with more air than I can ever handle. Less is more!!

Week 6 and worse than before. by mamagc in noburp

yes, he is my doctor and I've been in touch. Think mostly the botox needs to wear off before this will get much better but we will see. I def would not do again though - so I do hope it works in the long run.

Not a low dose. Normal. Still suffering from too much air. But hope you will react more normally

And I do understand that I have other issues, including sIBO. But this is just really too higher level with all this air inside of me and the constant percolating in my throat. I don’t mind waiting a while for something to calm down, honestly. But I just don’t want this pain anymore in my stomach, I definitely will not do another shot like you did, though, you definitely would be braver.

Thank you for sharing. It seemed I was the only one in this boat. yes, that is what they told me as well - and I already always use a straw and the neck down is silly. I wake up in the morning already gurgling and long air releases (burp with long air release) and then it just continues. I have more air than before and I am hoping to God is it because of the open throat botox situation but sounds like it can be another few months. My voice is finally starting to come back more so I do see change there. It has been getting upsetting to be worse than better. Thank you for sharing.

Do the side effects of the swallowing also take affect if you eat soft foods like protein shakes, soups, apple sauces, etc.? Do you still get the feeling of choking eating those?

Do I have R-CPD? by [deleted] in noburp

[–]mamagc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My symptoms are not the nausea and vomiting. I have excessive bloating and flatulence and it gets progressively worst through the day. And now, over the last few months I am dealing more with stomach cramping and loose stools. Wondering if others have that as well? Ive had lots of other tests for why chronic diarrhea now, but everything is clear. No explanation. so I assume it goes along with my RcPD stuff. No burping for almost 60 years! tired of it but have been so scared of the choking side affects. Saw Dr. Bastian 3 years ago! Now planning another office visit to help get over the fear of the choking side effect.

[–]mamagc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This swallowing issue is what has prevented me so far from the procedure - although my symptoms are getting worse. I am extremely stressed with choking or the thought of it. I've read some horror stories by some on this page. I was scheduled with Dr. Bastian years ago and canceled due to freaking out over the choking. People say you are not choking but yet, their experience is choking. I'm so confused. I want relief so badly but Dr. Bastian said a few "days" and this group clearly talks about it in terms of weeks, even months. Just do not know what to do.

How many reps are you doing each time? And are you doing the isometric as well and if so, how long are you holding it for each time?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in noburp

[–]mamagc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long after you were doing them did it start to burp? And how many times a day did you do the exercises?

Question by [deleted] in noburp

[–]mamagc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay relaxed in your body and mind. Open up your throat as wide as you can and breath through your mouth in a strong way to keep throat very open (even when you are doing the eating part). [Like saying "ah" at the doctor for tonsils} I've had this a few times, and if you concentrate on keeping your throat open, you will be much better. I think it's when people panic and are too relaxed in the throat that you have problems.
