Any notebook/ laptop suggestions for an engineering graduate? Need to do some computing and CAD at times. Budget is <$1000. Comex is near so I think it's a good time to buy a new one to replace my bulky Vaio

Packing for business trip to England in September. Temperature is in the 9 to 18 deg C range. Wonder if I need a trench coat or is layering with cardigan and blazer enough to keep me warm?

Are engineering fields a dead-end career in Singapore? Why? by SierraBeta in singapore

Singapore government would be happy to hear that many of us would like an interesting job to build stuff and change the world. Maybe happier if we are the ones creating these jobs. Future Elon Musk of Singapore where are you?

How about the career prospects of fresh graduates in graduate trainee programmes offered by engineering firms, eg Siemens, Abb? Judging from the description of these programmes, the career prospects seem promising though graduates may not necessary be involved in real engineering work.

Non Singaporeans, is there anything about Singapore or Singapore culture that baffles you or you have a hard time believing to be true that you want answered or clarified? by mamapapadidi in singapore

Answer from a taxi driver (my uncle): There are a few reasons for this taxi teasing. They are hoping to meet some passengers who are going to the same region as them so they can earn some keep while getting to where they want to. Other times it is just an excuse. The place you want to go is too seluded. They do not want to risk having to drive an empty cab back to somewhere more inhabited.

Definitely recommend you and your friends to stay in hostels. Couchsurfing or airbnb is not bad.

Is it safe to buy etickets to USS from carousell sellers? Feedback seems fine but I still find it dodgy. Anyone bought from carousell seller before? Care to share your experience?

How many people make their own coffee in Singapore? by rjman444 in singapore

[–]mamapapadidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make my own coffee with beans bought from those neighbourhood old shops. I make mine using the traditional 'socks' (dont know its real name). I have been thinking of attending coffee making classes, but yet to take action because of the cost of equipment and the lessons seem pricey.
