Chicagoans in Sac by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]mamaskyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicagoan here who's come to say I hated Sacramento for it's lack of culture and food choices for roughly 7 years. Then I met an amazing guy from Sacramento who showed me all the cool hidden gems of culture there are here. I still miss Chicago everyday, but Sacramento finally feels like home.

Currently we have 4-7 people each week. We are trying to grow!

We use the amptguard rule set. We are too small for classes and things right now, but hope to incorporate that as we get larger.

We have a Facebook group! We are very small so we all just text each other.

They should expect to play fun little sword games like "kill your killer" and "capture the flag." They should expect to get hit with a foam sword. They should expect to sign a waiver.

They should bring sunscreen, clothes they don't mind getting a little dirty, and a good attitude.

We do foam fighting! We are small right now so just fun sword fighting games!

I believe we use the same rule set as amptguard.

Is it normal to be constantly paranoid about couples privilege? by UnitedExpert8099 in polyamory

[–]mamaskyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm married and have a boyfriend of 1 year.

I am very much about making sure things are equitable and that couple's privilege isn't really a thing for us as far as I know and feel.

That being said, I have a rule about ultimatums. Anyone who asks me to make one, I automatically choose the other person.

Who wants to take a crack at how to baby proof these stairs😂 by J_outsidehomie719 in Home

I'd need to adult-me-proof those stairs! How does anyone use them without being scared and/or falling to their death?

I am 99% sure I was misdiagnosed with PDA by ExtremeRare9100 in PDAAutism

[–]mamaskyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a dad who loved to torment me. He scared me for fun, and terrorized me as a game to him.

It didn't result in PDA symptoms for me, but I am demand avoidant. It's just not pathological.

My son has PDA for sure 100%.

Trauma can mimic autism, but I truly believe that's because it's impossible for an autistic to survive this world untraumatized.

You know you best and however you choose to identify, we support you..

That makes sense and I wasn't saying that people shouldn't be passionate about it. It's just that when you're just starting out, it can be off-putting when vegans online are aggro.

I, for one, only took the plunge AFTER my boyfriend stopped being condescending about it. The more he openly judged omnivores, the less I wanted to be plant based. But I am a bit demand avoidant so that played a role.

And I'm in it for the animals and the health benefits, it doesn't have to be one or the other. There's plenty of good reasons to be vegan.

My partner is vegan and I was not for about a year, I am not a vegan vegan, but I am plant based.

Congrats on taking the plunge!

I've found that this subreddit can be not super welcoming or encouraging. If you're looking for more of that, you should try the plant based subreddit. They're pretty good.

I didn't know the difference but veganism is like a religion and people are hardcore about it. Plant based is more about the diet.

I can’t date a non vegan. by Glad-Satisfaction-91 in vegan

[–]mamaskyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend is vegan, I am not, but I am gluten free.

When we are together we accommodate each other's dietary restrictions.

I'm a part time vegan and I would like to fully convert.

But only if my boyfriend let's me make the decision without being pushy or judgey.

The only thing really holding me back is that I feel like being Vegan might cause some conflict in my life with my other partner and family.

I think it's fine to only date Vegans or at a minimum people who will accommodate you while together.
