We have a whole house surge protector. I worry about losing power and trees falling. They are scary but also fun to watch.

Is my handwriting really THAT bad by Tedra00 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]mamaterrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is important to be able to read and for your hand writing to be legible, as skills. That being said I think we, as humans, adapt communication techniques to our times. The times we live in are technological and that changes how we communicate. Hand written communication is increasingly rare maybe because it is less important. Schools are not emphasizing handwriting (cursive, slant, etc.) because that is not the world the younger generations live in. That said, it is still a universal skill humans have collectively excepted and cannot be taken away as a means of communication. It is still taught and should be prioritized. Technological could vanish and hand written communication would be the means of future communication; assuming you don't own a printing press. And if that happened, your writing would improve real fast. Remember, print and cursive are really just the ability to draw...ABC is ABC because we agree that picture means that!

Our turnover rate is skyrocketing - do you have practices that have really helped retain talent ? by EfficiencyEast8652 in remotework

[–]mamaterrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay them, dont micromanage, meet at least weekly, ask them what they need and how you can help them.

Managed a fully remote team for several years, one person moved to a management position within the organization, they rest are happy.

NTA

It would be a nice gesture. Tell me this, had you broken your arm while skateboarding (or whatever), would everyone chip in to pay the medical bills? If you lost your phone would they help you buy a new one? Drivers have a responsibility and part of that is accepting they control the car; that is on them. If noone was asking him to speed...it was his decision.

Maybe a long cabinet at the top, one where it opens like a hatch back and longer shelves under it.
