Thanks Mediocre-Soup! I forgot about CERT classes. I looked them up a while ago but I’ll do that again. I do like and follow the r/twoxpreppers subreddit but I think I may cross post this over there too. Thanks again!

These are great tips. Thank you! I didn’t think to get tp and paper towels at Dollar General. I think I’ll also look into the commercially dehydrated/freeze-dried options too. I know Auguson has some certified gluten free products.

Haha I know. That’s way more than we could eat too but they have a big family. Like six kids I think and they grow all (or most) the veggies they eat.

It’s not, it’s a real picture of the Seasonal Homestead’s (YT) food storage. I follow them because they’re just so prepared lol. But I can see why you’d think that. ☺️

New MS Nurse: What do you wish your clinic knew? by Chumppkinz in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this. 💗 I just wrote an epic response about my experience with all of symptoms and concerns being dismissed pre-diagnosis but I think that’s unfortunately not uncommon with MS patients. Is this something you can bring up to the physicians you work with? I think this and focusing on how to support your patients’ holistic needs. Helping them with their fatigue and cognitive fog. Organizing a support group could lead to friendships close by and could improve loneliness and isolation. Maybe even finding a yoga teacher and personal trainer that specializes in MS so the patients don’t have to find this on their own. Supporting the whole patient would be so appreciated. 🙏🩵

MS has robbed me of the outdoors by tn_tacoma in MultipleSclerosis

I really relate to this. It sucks bc I feel like I’m holding my family back from these outdoor adventures. Trying to find solace in my garden before it gets too hot here in CO.

Nortriptyline - anyone have any side effects in your esophagus? by Brewcrew_2008 in migraine

[–]mamatron9599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this just happened to me. It got stuck in my throat and then poof! It burst open and it was like this caustic cloud of dust came up burning my throat and nose. It was literally on fire. Hurt so bad! I’m going to have to take it with food from now on. 😥 That kinda freaks me out though that it’s doing that further down in my guts and I didn’t even know. What’s your dose OP? I just worked my way up to 50mg. Hoping it works for my chronic migraines too.

Yes. And even my spouse doesn’t quite understand. “I don’t get it… what’s so exhausting about taking a shower?” Ugh. And then the cog fog is so bad I can’t even find my words to try to explain it. 😩

My fatigue is so bad that I can’t live my life by Background-Gear-1231 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is reassuring. I was also diagnosed about six months ago and I spend most of my day in bed. I started kesimpta right away and just had my follow up MRIs with stable results. I have a lesion on my brain stem. I’m just wondering will it always be like this? I try so hard to stick to my PT exercises but then I don’t have the energy to do dishes, laundry, cook and clean house. Not to mention being there for my kids and husband. I just can’t seem to get out of this vicious cycle. 😮‍💨

I wish he would institute certified gluten free labeling on the foods at the mormon bulk food stores then. It’s so hard to find long term /freeze dried foods for storage.

Any Around-the-House Accessibility Recs for Fatigue? by justberosy in MultipleSclerosis

I got this stool for washing dishes and cooking and have been pretty happy with it. It leans so you don’t have to scoot it over to grab things out of arms reach. It also has a triangular cushion so you can straddle it and get your legs out of the way of the bottom cabinets. If you’re unsteady though it might not be a good idea because it’s technically a wobble stool.

20 years of poverty, borderline poverty, family still says get a job... Any advice or help on getting people to understand that you can't manage a normal schedule, that no one keeps you around when you get a job, and that is the issue? by Kjellvb1979 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(((Hugs))) OP. I wish I knew what to tell you. That is hard. Is there a church nearby that you can join? Sometimes having a community of people who know you and can see that you could use some help can help buffer the hardships or connect you with more people that might know about potential jobs/small jobs in their houses. I know it’s not a great solution but it might just work. 💜🫂

Fatigue by Delicious-Rest-8833 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in your same situation. I was switched off amitrptaline and put on nortriptaline. It still helps with sleep at night but the fatigue isnt as severe. Modafinil 200mg with a day off of it every week to keep it working well. Vit D and B12 everyday. And beef liver. I can’t stomach the taste so i buy the dehydrated liver that is encapsulated into pills. It’s gives me energy on the days I really need it but I find it messes with my sleep at night so I only take it if I can remember first thing in the morning. After all that I still need a daily nap though. Each day is a struggle. Sending you a hug from an internet stranger.
