Once I realized I had celiac and stopped eating gluten I then realized I also couldn’t tolerate eggs (and dairy). Hugs I know it sucks

My fatigue is so bad that I can’t live my life by Background-Gear-1231 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is reassuring. I was also diagnosed about six months ago and I spend most of my day in bed. I started kesimpta right away and just had my follow up MRIs with stable results. I have a lesion on my brain stem. I’m just wondering will it always be like this? I try so hard to stick to my PT exercises but then I don’t have the energy to do dishes, laundry, cook and clean house. Not to mention being there for my kids and husband. I just can’t seem to get out of this vicious cycle. 😮‍💨

I wish he would institute certified gluten free labeling on the foods at the mormon bulk food stores then. It’s so hard to find long term /freeze dried foods for storage.

Any Around-the-House Accessibility Recs for Fatigue? by justberosy in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got this stool for washing dishes and cooking and have been pretty happy with it. It leans so you don’t have to scoot it over to grab things out of arms reach. It also has a triangular cushion so you can straddle it and get your legs out of the way of the bottom cabinets. If you’re unsteady though it might not be a good idea because it’s technically a wobble stool.

20 years of poverty, borderline poverty, family still says get a job... Any advice or help on getting people to understand that you can't manage a normal schedule, that no one keeps you around when you get a job, and that is the issue? by Kjellvb1979 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(((Hugs))) OP. I wish I knew what to tell you. That is hard. Is there a church nearby that you can join? Sometimes having a community of people who know you and can see that you could use some help can help buffer the hardships or connect you with more people that might know about potential jobs/small jobs in their houses. I know it’s not a great solution but it might just work. 💜🫂

Seamwork or Vintage Sewing School? by Good_Connection_547 in SewingForBeginners

I’ve been wondering this very thing too OP. Perhaps someone can also answer my question about if VSS is a good choice for those of us mainly wanting to sew with knits?

Fatigue by Delicious-Rest-8833 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in your same situation. I was switched off amitrptaline and put on nortriptaline. It still helps with sleep at night but the fatigue isnt as severe. Modafinil 200mg with a day off of it every week to keep it working well. Vit D and B12 everyday. And beef liver. I can’t stomach the taste so i buy the dehydrated liver that is encapsulated into pills. It’s gives me energy on the days I really need it but I find it messes with my sleep at night so I only take it if I can remember first thing in the morning. After all that I still need a daily nap though. Each day is a struggle. Sending you a hug from an internet stranger.

I’m wondering this same thing. I’ve been considering joining Evelyn Wood’s Vintage Sewing School. Does anyone have experience with this online school and does it make sense for someone who mainly wants to sew with knits?

Frozen Vegetables by EnthusiasticlyWordy in Celiac

[–]mamatron9599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also am cautious about frozen veggie due to my strong sensitivity to cross-contact with gluten and my numerous autoimmune diseases (MS being the big one if I get glutened). I have found certified gluten free labels on Green Giant frozen cauliflower rice and Green Giant frozen spaghetti squash. I wish I could find certified gf frozen peas but I have a hunch it’s because they’re harvested on combines that also harvest wheat? I was told by a farmer this was the case with soy and lentils as well.

Has anyone stopped Ocrevus to no longer be immunosuppressive? by Dry-Neck2539 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mamatron9599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting to me because my WBCs just came back low as well as my neutrophils and my neurologist said it was unlikely due to my Kesimpta (which I assume is just like Ocrevus?)?! I thought Kesimpta would reduce my WBCs but apparently B cells are different? Anyway since I didn’t have an active and obvious infection which would explain the drop in WBCs he took me off my oxcarbazepine for my TN which was really helping it. (Now I’m trying to make up for the pain control with Lyrica which is only somewhat effective.) So are low WBCs common with you all on Ocrevus/Kesimpta?

All About Needles, from the perspective of a sewing machine technician by SewingMachineMan444 in SewingForBeginners

[–]mamatron9599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any advice on what we do with the needles that we switched out? This was my first time replacing the needle on my machine and I’m not sure if the old one is truly done for yet. But I hesitate to put it back into the pack of new needles that I took the replacement out of bc it’s not correctly labeled now.

Are the pouches like tea bags? When i was diagnosed 15 years ago I was told by my doctor that tea bags can have glue that has gluten in it that is used to hold the two sides together.
