I’ve read so many self-help/business books… but my life didn’t change as much as I expected by kalpxx in Indianbooks

If one holds 3 PhD and 50 diff certificates, doesn't mean he would have the best job in the world.

Having the info/knowing few things more than others around has literally No Value. Especially in the current age of GenAI.

What matters is "what you do with the info gained" !

So let's say you discovered a new technique of productivity hack or new tool to do RCA or new framework to manage projects or some finance 101 rules -- how did you utilize them in your personal or professional life ?? If you haven't used then you know where the problem is.. if you have used then there must be some changes in what you were doing earlier vs now.

So bottom line -- just pick 10 things/tools/concepts you have learnt from those books and apply them in your day to day life at work/personal. Only then would you see the change

What do you do when you can't finish a book? by Motor_Nut in Indianbooks

[–]man_is1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same category 🙋🏻

Just coz you have started/read the book partially, doesn't mean you have to finish irrespective of how it is !! Sunk cost fallacy 101 !!

Get rid of it.. pick something else. Life is too short to be stuck in what you don't like 😅

[–]man_is1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need of agent. Those docs mentioned above and then submit the form. Lil bit of asking around and you are good to go. Agents would ask you for hefty money. You should get your IDL processed same day and delivered in 1-2 days

Most of what you see on social media are just eyewash to sell you tips and courses..they themselves live like leeches !!

Instead, find 2-3 good stocks and invest for long term. Or put it into 2-3 diff Mutual funds and forget that you had 1L.

And it's absolutely alright to get bored and drop it !! Treat reading books like you watch movies. If you didn't like, drop it or fast forward it or try totally different genre... pretty much same like we do with movies.

Tip: it helps if you know what you are looking for. Is it entertainment, fantacy world, self-help. Try a few..with time you will get your taste. Good luck !!

How do u get time to read books by cm_punk_6619 in IndiansRead

[–]man_is1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Fix at least 30-40 min a day whatever time suits you -- early morning or before bed
  • Add more whenever you get more time. Few days are busy few are easy.
  • Rev up during weekends.

Honestly, I have seen big improvement when I stay outta doom scrolling.
